The other day I saw the game darkest day which from what i recall is about a guy who takes weapons from the future to the past to kick ass.

Later that fine evening i was playing Mount&Blade and a question arose.

What is the most pointless weapons to say take back to the medieval times.

My idea would be an EMP weapon but if anyone can think of a more pointless weapon well kudos to you fine chap

A rocket launcher. You'd only have a few shots, then you would run out of ammo for hundreds of years.

I figure it'd be anything that needs a type of ammo that won't be invented for a ridiculously long time. So, all modern day firearms? Unless you took a crapload of ammo with you.

Silly American, Canada will destroy you if you try to play with nuclear weapons again.

The most useless weapon to bring back to medieval Europe would probably be LOGIC.

Any bio-weapon. It would be such a waste since all it would take to wipe out whole villages is the flu due to their medical skills, or lack thereof.

I throw knives as a hobby, and have proven to friends and other interested persons just how effective they can be when used right...though granted I would prefer something more substantial.

Any contemporary weapon could still be useful, even if it has limited ammo or capacity (reverse engineering is always possible, people in the medieval times were merely less educated than us, not stupid).

I would have to say the most useless weapon would be modern wit. You'd get killed pretty fast mouthing off the way people feel free to these days...

not to sound like i'm being a douche, but when i said a knife, i meant 1 knife, not a dozen.

The most pointless weapon? probably a spoon. Buh dum tush.

I think a letter opener would be pretty useless. You can somehow hold up an airplane with it today, but in medieval times they would just run you through with a real sword.

EMP weapons would be pointless anyway. You will only get to use it once. It is incredibly easy to harden against it, and most military and government facilities already are because of the threat of a the EMP from a very high altitude nuke blast.

Modern weapons require a vast amount of support. In the way of ammo and parts. It would not be as simple as bringing back a couple of assault rifles and 50,000 rounds of ammo. Every so often those weapons will need service and most likely parts, both of which you are not likely to find in the past. Even 100 years ago you would not likely find anyone with the know how, skills to repair the weapon. Now going into the distant "sci-fi" future and finding some kind of energy weapon that can work for years without ever needing to be recharged, and never malfunctions and that would work wonders.

As for the ones who keep saying "Nuke!" What is your delivery system? You realize a first gen nuke weighs in around 2000 lbs, and is likely only going to yield 50 kilo tons, most likely less. Fat man and Little boy both yielded under 50 kilotons combined (35 or so total). Don't think they get smaller as they get more advanced. Tsar Bomba weighed 27 tons (54,000 lbs). The backpack nuke is a myth.

The Klobb from Goldeneye, you would run out of ammo before you killed anything, and you couldn't hit anything more than a yard away.
