I don't know if it's necessarily ridiculous, but by far the most unusual/awesome weapon I've seen in any game is the gun that shoots shurikens and lightning from painkiller.

For overpowered...

In Sins of a Solar Empire, a Space-RTS for the PC, there was a weapon you could build that would fire a Nuclear Missile at an enemy world.

Of course, it takes quite some time for the payload to reach it's destination on some of the larger maps, especially when the target is in a different star system. The longest I've ever seen it take was about 10 minutes.

Also, it can only fire it at planets you know are there. You can't fire blindly into space. You can set it to auto-fire, which will cause it to fire at any convenient target, and continue to do so once the lengthy cooldown has expired.

Let's say you're using a massive fleet to scout out new worlds, and you just happen to stumble upon a nice little planet occupied by your enemies. The weapon see this, and since auto-fire is enabled, it fires a nuclear warhead.

This warhead will take 10 minutes to get there. In those 10 minutes, you will...

-Obliterate all orbital defenses
-Wipe out the local population though planetary bombardment
-Resettle the planet with your own subjects

And just as things are getting started on your new World... BOOM! A nuclear warhead... YOUR nuclear warhead, flies onto the screen and smashes straight into your planet.

The gun from Painkiller. Shurikens and lightning!

I searched for a video a bit, but didn't see one that had it at first glance. :(

The one that pop into my mind now is the Phase rifle in Conduit 2. It's a lazer sniper rifle however it can shoot through wall. Granted it can be use within a range and it can fire only one shot and then you have to reload. It also let the player known they are going to be snipe (unless you buy that upgrade that won't warn them) but I still think it's a overpower weapon. That rifle pretty much add something that the rest of the other sniper rifle can't do in a game (well most of them).

Why, the Vampire Killer from Castlevania IV, it's red and makes everyone but a Belmont look ridiculous.

It's even more insane than 7. It's actually 8 nukes. O_O Eight damn nukes.

Anyways, I was going to say the Abeline Kid BB Gun in Fallout: New Vegas. It does 4 damage normally, but when you get a critical hit with it, it adds 70 points of damage to it. That's more damage than most guns in the game (without critical hit damage, but still.)

I will concur with the Landshark gun from "Armed And Dangerous". It is the only reason I went and hunted that game down. Best $5 ever!

Probably the Hailstorm from Resistance: Fall Of Man.

If fires needles that can bounce off walls. However, its ammo magazine doubles as an autoturret, which floats in the air from the recoil of constantly firing.

(It's not the best video, but you can see it firing, as well as briefly seeing the turret at the end.)

Metro 2033's Automatic Shotgun counts too, just for the reload animation.
