As the title says what is the most sad thing that happend to you or your family.
For me it would two things, the first one would be a couple years back when my father nearly died. I forgot what happened to him to make this happen but a sad time indeed.
The second one was a month or two ago when he was in kidney failure, he had to stay in the hospital for a while but he is taking medication for it and, is getting better.

So escapist user what is your sad thing that happened.

This is going to be one depressing thread.
The saddest thing would probably have to be about a year ago when my mom died. Stupid cancer. Dio and my mom in the same year.

To my family I think it might have been when we found out I have the same Chronic disease as my mother.

For me I guess it was when my cat died. I was 12 and the cat was 15. It felt like I lost a family member.

Probably the day I was diagnosed with cancer, I can't imagine what they must have been like for my parents. Other than that (I'm fine now) it's probably been either my Uncle's suicide or my Grandma's early death. Those were hard on my Mom especially

Misery loves company, so here I am.

It would probably be my grandmother's death in 2009. It was a fairly quick process, relatively. I believe it was the 10th of October when she was hospitalized, and then she died on the 14th. Her kidneys were failing, her body was going septic, and she was pretty much unconscious through it all due to the medication she was on to keep her "comfortable". That sucked extra worse for me because, the one time she was awake and talking, I didn't go see her because I was too tired. The regret I felt when she died was unbelievable. Also, it was four days before my birthday.

My grandmothers long battle with Alzheimer's, to the point that she didn't recognize any of us, was incredibly depressing for my whole family. That and hurricane Katrina. That devastated the entire state, and some of my family lost their homes.

This is a really sad thread...

~My father's unexpected death.
~My mother's death from cancer.
~My diagnosis of a rare disease leading to me being home from work without pay and watching the house fall apart around us.

But here is a poem that I like to keep close when things seem particularly crappy (to help turn our frowns upside down!):

The tree that never had to fight,

For sun and sky and air and light,

But stood out on the open plain,

And always got it?s share of rain,

Never became a forest king,

But lives and dies a scrawny thing.

The man who never had to toil,

To gain and farm his patch of soil,

Who never had to win his share,

Of sun and sky and light and air,

Never became a manly man,

But lived and died as he began.

Good timber does not grow in ease,

The stronger the wind, the stronger trees

The farther sky, the greater the length

The more the storm, the more the strength,

By sun and cold, by rain and snow,

In tree and men good timbers grow.

Where thickest lies the forest growth

We find the patriarchs of both.

And they hold counsel with the stars

Whose broken branches show the scars

This is the common law of life.

My cousin has paranoid schizophrenia and murdered two people. That's a tough fucking thing to deal with.

The saddest thing to happen to my family would probably be the death of our German Shepard, Skye. Happened when I was at school. Was in the 6th grade or something. Anyway, she was asleep at the edge of our property where there was a break in the trees and sun would shine in through the crack. She used to sleep there a lot. It was also near the end of our driveway. Keep in mind, we had a huge driveway.

So she was asleep, and this jackass in a U-haul decides to do a turn-around. So he backs up into our fucking yard and runs her over. Bastard didn't even get out to apologise. I came home to find her corpse in a wheel-barrow, soaking in her own blood. I was a bit tramautised by that, I think. My mom was severely depressed for about two months after that.

I figure the day I found out that my Fiance, her sister and two other girls were sexually molested by my Fiance's step-father. What's worse is that they haven't been to preliminary hearing yet (This Thursday) but after that it may take months for the trial to actually start.

If this thread has to deal with something directly effecting me besides that, I have to say surgery in the 2nd grade for the removal of my appendix..

Indeed it does, which is why I'm here, too...

OT: I've gone into my depressing shit too much around here, so I'll go with: my brother passed away from cot death. It gets at me more than my parents, bearing in mind he died eight years before I was born.

I don't remember much about the night I attempted suicide, but I vividly recall opening my eyes as I lay on a hospital bed, my mother standing over me holding my hand and repeating over and over again that she loves me and that I'll be okay. I cried a lot at that.

I'm assuming you and your dad aren't fat?

OT: My parents' divorce due to my dad going to prison (I still don't know what for; mom said some kind of molestation but he's not in the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's sex offender registry so...). It split my family (i.e. me vs. them cause I was the only one who would even talk to him) and did a number on me, too. Apparently I used to be really talkative and outgoing, but now I'm a very quiet, isolated person. Oh well, I like how I turned out.
