There are alot RPGs out there, and not all of them make a whole lot of sense, so which one do you thing has most stupid gameplay, characters, and/or story.

Fable 1 + 2. It causes me physical pain to even entertain the thought of it being anywhere near an RPG. No offense, of course, to those who enjoy it.

Its too linear to be classed as a proper RPG (in my opinion) - That being said i did enjoy it.

Hmm I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this but Oblivion. It is a pretty good game once you get into it, but when I shut off my xbox I can't get myself to play it again. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or just played Fallout 3 too much.

"Divine Divinity". I know a lot of people enjoyed it, but it completely lacked any proper storyline to draw me in... What was there was like an improvised plot hastily thrown together by an inexperienced GM when his players totally screwed over the campaign plot and he had no backup.

Hard to say. I mean, the one I liked the least was Baldur's Gate, but I wouldn't describe that game as "stupid."

See, now that's just cold. There are some good JRPGs; you just have to be able to gloss over the horrific garbage that permeates the system.

So Final Fantasy 1 (The most linear game EVER) isn't an RPG?

@topic

Final Fantasy 10. Shortened version of my experience with FFX.

"Alright, cool, I'm a sports star or something. Cool, story stuff. Ooh, fight that is impossible to lose. Story stuff. Story stuff. Story stuff. Piss-weak fighting. Story stuff. Story Stuff. Story stuff. Fuck this, I'm not trying to watch a movie."

well, it IS an RPG, But i have a fearce dislike for FF games.

A Proper RPG nowadays[/I] should have loads to do, be pretty, and not commit the cardinal sin of "empty field *FWOOSH* 10 story Dragon" Spawning.

All I can see coming out of this thread is:

Try asking something quantifiable, or else you may well be trolling.

As do I.

I disagree, however. An RPG, by definition, is a role-playing game; to become an RPG, all a developer has to do is implement a leveling system, and all RPG breaks loose.

A 'proper' RPG has developed characters that you care about, a well-thought out leveling system, and a great deal of challenge in it. "Openness" doesn't really bother me too much, because it's a lot harder to write a good story for an "open" game in place of a linear title.

Oh, and if I don't care about the characters, the RPG goes unplayed.
