The most tense moment in a game

Anyway, I'd have to say most 1v1s at the end of a CA on Quake Live can get very tense.

I seriously think that it's scary... Not like those other supposedly scary games, like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Fatal Frame or My Little Pony.

You've got no health pots, no ninpo, the boss is almost dead but one more hit and you'll have to start over.

If you don't find that tense, people should harvest your blood for some kind of uber relax-drug.

You're walking down a foggy street, then darkness descends. The road you're walking on turns into rusty metal grating. Your only source of illumination is a chest flashlight, which only casts shadows from stuff five feet away from you. Suddenly, you hear your radio emit static. At first, it's only a little, then it develops into white noise. You then hear moaning, gurgling and other inhuman sounds you'd rather not hear in the dark. You look around, seeing nothing but darkness. You're sure something's there, but you don't know where it will be coming from.

That's what happened in my last visit to Silent Hill, at least.

Metal Gear Solid 3, you bust out of the jail, sneak out of the base, and you then escape to the sewers when they send the friggin' dogs after you! So now you got 2 dozen vicious dogs chasing you and you have to occasionally crawl through some tunnels because some of the areas are gated off. And everytime you do it it slows you down.

Oh. And you have no recovery items and the only weapons you have are a fork and Solid Snake's badassness.

Strider / Gunship moments and battles in Half Life 2 and its Episodes. Those synth machines are the most awesome and lethal in any game I've ever seen. Plus, its tense to see a machine attacking you like an animal.

In L4D when the next area you walk into is quiet and empty and your just waiting for the next attack but you dont know when its gonna hit.

then some dick your playing with shots the car with the alarm and then you get the roar of a horde.

Same thing happens to u too?

judging by the fact that 90% of the people that play that game are peni i think it must happen to everone atleast once...

Do dogs really chase you? I've only seen a few dogs waiting around for you. I've never seen a pack of dogs after me. You do hear their barking though.

I was bieng sarcastic but yes it does happen to everyone. I was playing on expert once and this guy would hide everytime a horde was coming and made the rest of us do all the work.

oh the worst is the people that just get bored of staying with you and then just walk off to steal any supplies they can find then get mugged by a mini hord and expect you to save them.

i tend to enjoy the games that aren't going so well to the ones that your just trawling through, it gives you more time you get to know the players and in turn mock them... so yeah, rage quitting annoyes the hell out of me too...

I also like to get to know the players. It just makes the experience more enjoyable.

I tried that. It turns out the guy in the helicopter has amazing reflexes, being able to deploy flares in time to stop a sting missile fired from 50 metres away, when he wasn't even expecting to be attacked.

Original Quake. I couldn't tell you which level, but some big scaries were looking for me and I was hiding behind an oversized bollard, not knowing whether they were coming right, left or over the top.

I've heard that Doom II's Archvile can make for some adrenalin-rush moments IRL if the zip on the next tent over makes exactly the same sound around 6am.

First time through HALO, waiting for the Flood to hammer down that door and rush me.

Trying to keep the whole fellowship and myself alive and inflict my fair share of damage because we're underpowered on attack while we're fighting a level 666 white rabbit, using spells that take a few seconds to cast.
