Lost Odyssey is one of the best RPGs of the generation, maybe even the best on consoles.

And then, of course, Luigi's Mansion.

Dark Cloud 1 & 2. It's basically Akalabeth meet Zelda. Not many heard of it and those who do regard it as a triple A title and one of the best game by the LEVEL 5 team.

underrated? hmm... i guess i'll go with the fear effect series. fantastic games, but i'm sure noone alive today's even heard of them.
It's not really underrated as much as bad in a "not funny" kind of way. The second one was just a big lesbian joke throughout.

...IMO, Metro 2033. It got good reviews, but many gamers haven't given it one look.
It's a wonderful game alright, deserved to do a lot better.

Still, I hear it sold pretty well in Eastern Europe. The atmosphere was second to none - shifting from such a gorgeous, haunting melancholy into hellish terrifying horror.

Man, just remembering that library level makes me shudder....

Jade Empire. It was a fantastic game, but it seemed almost like no one at all noticed it. :S

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction - It wasn't just all about explosions, it had a really nice storyline (which is basically a more realistic version of Homefront) and I found the political satire to be very well done, it had great voice acting, was well written and had a lot of good content such as weapons and vehicles.

Dynasty Tactics 2 - Personally I think it has the greatest turn based combat ever, the multiplayer is hours of fun when played with friends and the four campaign are long and the branching paths offer lots of replay value.

I'd have to with No One Lives Forever. A FPS where you were basically a female James Bond.

Indigo Prophecy. it may have had an odd supernatural storyline and some of the worst graphics ive ever seen on a PS2 game, but honestly David Cage just has this way with me. I loved Indigo Prophecy everytime i played it, which about now has got to be near 10 times. If i had a Ps3, Heavy Rain would be my first buy just because its made by the same guy.

Maybe I'm just saying that because I legitimatlly enjoy
that sort of thing :D
Holey Moley y'mean someone ELSE owns that game? Wow. I love it but I'm just not that good at it. I get DESTROYED on the Arena missions and have yet to take out even one of the floating fortresses but god that game is the best mech simulator I've ever played. I just wish the interface was a bit more forgiving for making/understanding mods (I think my build is part of my probem) but considering everything they had to cover, UBIsoft did a great job.

For my own pick I'm going with the one I think most people will get a lot of enjoyment out of if they actually give it a try considering it's so inexpensive now. Eat Lead the return of Matt Hazzard. If you want to play through a spoof/tribute of video games past and present with a truly alarming array of weaponry it should be Eat Lead. You will believe someone can equip a water pistol and totaly mean bid'ness....

Did anybody play XIII? In my opinion it pulled off the cel-shaded comic book look better than any game I've played to date, was a very competent FPS and had an excellent story. They set it up for a fantastic sequel, but my hopes of one ever eventuating dwindle by the day :(...

Splinter Cell Conviction

Gamers bitched about it being dumbed down and being turned into a pure shooter, both of wich a rather dumb things to say in my opinion.

While you CAN play it like a shooter, it's not going to be much fun and also rather hard on anything higher than the easiest difficulty setting (aside from the non-stealth-flashback mission that is, admittedly, rather sucky)

On the other hand however, you'll get options to play stealthy that feel much more diverse than in other games. You can still play the way you are used to, hiding in shadows, memorizing routes and taking down enemies unseen, you can lure enemies into traps or let yourself be seen to quickly flank enemies. And most important of all, if you a really good, you can clear rooms and setpieces FAST, oftentimes in under a minute.
Climbing, running and rolling from cover to hiding place to cover, killing guards up close and then finishing of the remaining enemies in a glorious quick-draw fashion like a hybrid between a ninja and Jack Bauer is one of the coolest things i could do in any game in the last five years or so.

Also, while the story could be better, the Protagonist was still more likable than "mindless goverment tool Sam" of the first three games, and it had a cool "direction"

Other than that, a honorable mention to Mirrors Edge, because i still very much like the game and am still very angry that it wasn't really successful because people deemed it too different or too hard (while calling the Cel-Shading Prince of Persia too easy. Gamers are weird like that)
