What have you guys noticed that really stood out as unusual/impossible in any game you've played? The reason I started this thread is because I'm currently playing fallout 3, just gibbed someone into a thousand pieces, and can currently loot their gun, armor and bottlecaps by rooting through the shattered remains of their skull which is lying quite a substantial distance from the body. So whats you're strange thing you've noticed?

Edit - The concept of modern warfare shooters is a popular one for this topic. Crysis 2 did it well, you have to admit, by saying that alcatraz was only alive because of the suit, and not just that he crouched behind a wall, prayed to his god and got a pint of blood back. GTA 4 also stands out for me, as in Niko can fit a RPG in his pocket. But, that is necessary otherwise you would have a lot of bored gamers going back-and-forward between his house and the mission.

Keeping on the subject of Fallout 3, you leave the safety of your Vault to venture around the Capital Wasteland. I would assume that for the first few times you eat, you would be violently ill since you've spent the past 18 years eating sanitized vault-food. Also, you eat but never have the need to use the restroom...in every game that isn't Duke Nukem or, the Sims.

The fact that only the Sims games allow your character to urinate. Does everyone else just wear nappies?

I meant stuff that is just fully outrageous, not just little quirks. I suppose hiding behind a wall to wipe jam of your face is a bit OTT, but do you really want to play Iraq War Game, in which you spend 1 year training, and in the first hour of combat get hit, then spend the next 6 months of the game lying in hospital?

Apparently once you get high enough up in an organisation or the military you get complete real time control of all operations and no one disobeys you.

When I was a kid, I always wondered why Link from Ocarina of Time didn't eat, sleep or go to the toilet, Was he in a coma at the start of the game or something?

Well, i can totally live with "unrealistic" happenings and things in games AS LONG AS THERE IS A REASON for the stuff.

Hell, i LOVE going full on psychodelic (eating mushrooms to grow or casting spells or flying through space with the power of rock). But if it takes out the immersion and breaks conventions it itself sets.. i HATE that.

For example: How am i supposed to be a normal soldier in a deadly war if i can abosrb and regenerate damage? Either make the games easier so you don't get shot or play a "nameless horde" which provides you with "extra-lifes" or make me a regenerating super-soldier or something.

As long as the rules of the game, everything presented, and the gameplay are in union i LOVE every strange minute of it.

The bit I find most untrue to real life is that in the games I'm not allowed to have a hissyfit, give up and go home.

Most unrealistic thing in games for me? Getting laid, I mean honestly, everytime I have sex ingame, the realism, pshwoo, right out of the window.

also I would have thourght that you wouldn't be 100% completley fine with your surroundings upon exiting the vault

like probably seeing the sky for the first time, I would imagine that would give you vertigo or make you dizzy, feel sick or somthing

you jsut freak you out a bit, I always imagined a more realisitic senario is that the PC would take a step out side freak out run back in the cave and probably vomit (ok mabye thats a little extreme)

it would take a while to work up the nerve to venture out anyhow, like in NV you can see how some ex vault dwellers got agoraphobia

that said the PC is exceptional anyway
