Being a huge BattleTech fan I remember spending quite a bit like 250 dollars, US on a MWO Legendary Founder's sub before the game even launched. Plus all the extra special edition "hero" mechs up to and including the Clan Invasion packs. Probably several thousand dollars there. Then I realized something. MechWarrior Online is awful. Buggy, broken, badly done, poorly balanced, poorly optimized, and everything bad you could expect. Plus if you have a legitimate problem with the game on the technical side and complain about it in the forums, they ban you. Screw Microsoft, screw Smith and Tinker, and screw Piranha Games. That was not worth it, and it's an insult to everything BattleTech and all previous MechWarrior games.

$84 for Ogre Battle 64... + shipping but I can't remember what that was...

Resident Evil 4 as well since I have bought 3 (4?) Times, couldn't say the exact amount what with sales and different prices, but the first time was for sure full price, so I'd guess at least $100.

Path of Exile(A F2P game with absolutely no P2W mechanics of any kind.) I've supported GGG for about 1600 dollars. Diamond, Divine, Champion, and Grandmaster supporter.

WoW. I've spent easily close to 400 dollars on the bad boy. Including expansion packs and game time. I've spent no money on cosmetic items though.

Probably Fallout 3. I bought the lunchbox edition, bought all of the DLC then when I changed over to the PS3, I got another new copy of the game...granted, that second copy of bundled with New Vegas and was also the complete edition. Still, I've probably spent more on that than anything else if you count the DLC and second purchase.

Probably Mortal Kombat X.
Amazon Import Edition, $180 US, then immediate shipping brought it to $200.
Then I dropped two bucks on Blue Steel Sub-Zero, so $202.
And if any DLC characters beyond the Kombat Pack come out (fighters that you really should of told us we weren't getting immediately, NetherRealm!) I'll be buying those too, although I've been hearing the Kombat Pack is essentially the Season Pass.
No regrets.

Dota 2. I have a lot of tournament tickets. I just enjoy spectating through the game more than on the twitch streams.

Since MMO's count it'll be WoW hands down for me. I played that game for almost six years, the money I spent on subscriptions alone dwarfs anything I've ever paid for any other game before or since.

Regardless of how I feel about the game now, it gave me a lot of great memories. I'd say it was mostly worth it for the memories.

I'll admit it, I was a Duke Nukem fan since he first appeared in 91, shooting robots and drinking Cokes for health. So needless to say I bought the Balls of Steel Edition of Duke Nukem Forever. Later on when the DLC campaign the Doctor Who Cloned Me came out I got that too. So in total that with tax included was about $120 I think.

£50 for Guild Wars 2 on release. I've spent about £18 on the in-game gem store over the following two years. Had more than enough playtime with it.

Also spent £40 on both Majora's Mask 3D and Star Fox 3D. Damn overpriced.

Two games come to mind-

The Borderlands 2 loot chest edition. I think those ran for $150. I fully regret that decision.

I bought Fallout New Vegas multiple times. Once on 360, then on PC, and again on the 360 for the collector edition. I estimate the total was around $150 to $200. I regret none of it.

A notable close call was the Aliens: Colonial Marines collector edition. I cancelled that pre-order right before they shipped out.

$130 for Warcraft 3 and TFT. Consider I clocked > 4000 hours on it, it's totally worth the $130 I gotten out of it.
$90 for SimCity 4. 7000 hours.
$80 for TESV. 1000 hours.

$60 for Dragon Age 2. Worst, $60, ever.

I did buy a New 3DS (swapping with an old one) purely for the sake of playing Xenoblade Chronicles, you could kinda interpret that as paying more for the game in some sense. It's the only added benefit I've got from it. Haven't used the C-stick and don't use 3D so it has been purely for that game. I'm guessing you might consider that a cheat answer though!

$40 (full price for a 3DS game), and even that is rare. I refuse to pay $60 for anything, especially since $60 doesn't even get you the whole game anymore.

Not counting havering a subscription to World of Warcraft for several years, Fallout 3, as I was young and dumb enough at the time to buy it at full price on the Xbox 360 and buy all the DLC as soon as they came out.

I paid $100 for Waverace 64 at Funcoland back in 1996. Fortunately, it was $100 well spent as it is still one of my favorite games on the N64. If you adjust for inflation, then it cost me $152 in today's dollar value.

Well, it could be argued that I bought my PS3 just for MGS4. I don't know anymore for how much PS3's went at the time, but I suppose about ?450 total.

And yes, it was worth it. After I was done with MGS4 I got a lot of mileage out of the PS3. Almost 7 years now and still going strong.

I bought a couple of Collector's Editions, guides and other merchandise since then, but nothing major. Nothing past the ?100 mark, at any rate.

I paid (wait for it) £99 for a sealed and boxed copy of Lylat Wars,
I paid £85 for Battlefield 3 + Premium (and it was worth it)
£75 for a collectors edition Mass Effect 3, plus another £15 on unlock packs (Oops)
£75 again for LoZ: Twilight Princess Gamecube version
£70 for Perfect Dark + Expansion Pack + Rumble Pack.

I have only regretted one of those purchases, although I got a fair chunk of the money back by Ebaying it, Cmdr Shepard had my back after all.
