I couldn't get into it the first time either, but you really have to watch this film in the theatre or with surround sound, because it's one of the most visually and technically compelling films I've seen, which I've garnered to appreciate after multiple viewings. Anyway you shouldn't have compared it to the book (or expected the same type of story), since the things that the film has in common with the novel is more the storytelling and names of the characters, and doesn't really have anything to do with the overall message of the book. That, and a long attention span. (which I've recently perfected with the recent viewing of lawrence of arabia)Trivun said:Taylor Lautner. He was also Sharkboy in 'The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl'. Anyway, I liked the Twilight films, I liked the books, I hate Edward Cullen and I hate the screaming fangirls who give us proper fans (those who can see past the flaws and still like something) a really bad name. That sums up my view on Twilight.almightywabbit said:I don't see why Twilight was as all bad as that, admitadly I'm not as fan of it as the next guy but I don't get the irrational hatred put towards it, I think its a jealousy thing with girls swooning for some unexplained reason over Robert Patterson or that unlikable bloke that plays Jacob, old "Bloody-Whats-His-Name".
Anyway, getting back on topic. I couldn't sit through Apocalypse Now. Flame me all you want, but I read the novella it was partially based on (Heart Of Darkness) and loved that, but when I watched Apocalypse Now it was in an optional after-school supplementary class for the course where we were reading Heart of Darkness. I sat through the first class to see the film, never bothered turning up to the second. We watched the Redux version, you see, so it had to be split over two classes, and I never bothered going to the second showing because I just couldn't take any more. I have no doubt it's a good film, but watching that version, it was just excessivley long and I couldn't really get into it.
Aside from 10 things I Hate About You, every film you listed is a fucking phenomenal film, I just don't understand how you couldn't like them.Odude said:In theaters; Kill Bill 1 & 2, and Sin City. On DVD; Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and 10 Things I Hate About You. I was later forced to watch all the DVD ones, and I hated them even more after finishing them.
Really? I found that to be in the "so bad it's entertaining" section of films.Thunderhorse94 said:You Don't Mess With The Zohan.
