Saw it today. it was... ok i guess. i liked that almost every poney made an appearance in the first 10 minutes ( i remeber having see cheese sandwich somewhere in the background) but is it just me or once they fall off the bridge after the firt encounter with tempest, the animation seems to be a little bit lower quality ?

but my kids just had a great time, they absolutely loved it if the voices in theatre wasnt the same than the ones on TV.

I hate how the show has no idea what to do with Celestia. Luna at least got some great character building episodes but Celestia has almost nothing. There is things she has done, she saved Twilight from Discord when she got turned, she broke the want it need it spell when Twilight was going kinda nuts, and she helped Twilight ascend. They have missed so many opportunities to really do something with her, like in the alt universes they could have shown her beating Tirek but the world ended up a wasteland, or in one of the story episodes they could be doing stories about her past. The problem with her is that if shes effective then the question becomes, why not just go to Celestia, which at this point probably isn't a possibility since we have had so many seasons without her being able to do anything. Shes a mother character type but kind of one of those overly pure ones, the kind that are 'too good for this world' meaning perfect but never do anything and often only existing as the concept of a mother in someones memory since they got killed of when the character was young.

You obviously haven't seen his Perfect jawline with your own eyes. So handsome.

Punk Rarity made me feel.... things.... and may have been the tipping point to put her on top of the Best Waifu chart (though Tempest is top-tier Waifu as well).

No, his "jokes" were beneath even me. I saw them coming, and even I with my horribly low standards (My jokes are like a Nebraska man's diet, nothing but corn) I wouldn't have used those lines.

Speaking of Tirek, why they crap haven't they done the Fusion Dance thing and pumped Twiggles full of their magic to kick the ass of the problem of the week? Hell imagine if the Bad-Ass-With-A-Fine-Ass Tempest was given that kind of power, she'd have straight up bodied Tirek in a fight more one sided than SSJB Goku v Jiren.

They kinda did that, Twilight got all the princess power and had a big drag out fight with him. Which I'm sure you remember. I would prefer a clever fight like the one between Twilight and Starlight than just a power fight.

I don't remember the animation really dropping, but then again I keep thinking back to one of my favorite set pieces with the wind mill blades coming off and them going for a ride on them and how awesome that was. Next time I see it I'll keep an eye out for that.

Really if they were willing to let Celestia or Luna do anything then Tempest would have been beaten. Keep in mind we already know that Cadance knows her way around a fight, we saw her fight the tetsilworm.

it's the eyes that keep bothering me. in the show, and by looking in google images i can confirm that, their eyes is suppose to be one big black pupil, then a circle of color with 2 or 3 shades of color and two or three white dots. however in the movie, they added small white dots in the colored section of their eyes, two or three very small dots in each shade section. this however is much more visible in the first en minutes of the film, and often they didnt add it later. that and i think caper lack detail in his animation. he feel more 2d cartoon than all the other caracters. that's what make me think the animation dropped after the first 10 minutes, which is basically the section that is in the trailer. like if they worked it better because they were using it in the trailers

Yeah I saw it and its pretty terrible.
First off the animation is awful. It looks like an early Gamecube cut scene, or something that TellTale would do. That fist scene where we're flying into Canterlot and all the ponies are awkwardly 3D against a flat backdrop looked awful. Truly should have been cut.
Lip sync is completely off. I was told the movie was animated in Russian and then dubbed over, which might explain it. Still, completely threw me out of the experience when the mouth is about a half second faster than the voice.
Oh for the days of a good Flash Animation...

The jokes were awful. For one there's a laugh pause after every joke. Literally. Twilight smiles awkwardly Spike: Err...no
Also there's a dick joke. In a My Little Pony movie. A dick joke. Oh and a smelly butt joke! Lets not forget the classic MLP butt joke!

Story Wise its a subpar episode where again every solution is just asking nice, singing a song and boom, decades of pain and resentment are gone and everyone is friends. Which compared to the EQG movies and the show's season finales, its pretty weak.

3/10, would rather have seen a new EQG movie

I'm not seeing it, can you link some images that show that? I do think that the movie designs are weaker than the show. As I said before, it feels like they tried to make the ponies shorter for the movie since they are just so much smaller than all the other characters. But that doesn't have to do with the animation.

I mean, yeah I see the sparkle things in the mane cast's eyes but I'm not finding any shots without them. Then again its kinda hard to make them out in most of the screens I see that aren't from the trailers, mostly cause the images are kinda small. Does that really signify a dip in quality though?

Ok I apologies for kinda nerco this thread per say but the film came out yesterday in the UK.

Sorry for breaking this up into a sentence or paragraph per lines and space but it help me to compile my thoughts about the films.

The film was alright since it pretty much a longer episode.

The new animation itself isn't as bad as it make up to be when first seen in the trailer. Granted I admit it was weird seeing glitters within their pupils but I was watching it on the big screen. I won't had notice it if it was my computer screen.

I liked the new unicorn, Tempest Shadow. She was likea unicorn in this reality per say, a somewhat semi grim dark unicorn who isn't into party and friendship. She is a unicorn I can get behind with!

I thought the whole idea of holding the festival just for a even bigger celetrity ponies was exaggerating at best? Songbird got the ultra treatment cos she was voice by a real singer? I mean seriously Twilight asked the other Princesses
to moved the sun, moon and have the aurora effect just for songbird???

Stormking was quite lame. Yes I got he was comedical from that "dial up" potion but I fail to see how he was threatening without his minion and staff? I mean he was intimatating enough to got a subspecies of ponies to transforms and moved underwater or was that just bad leadership?
Speaking of the villain, his dismise was quite violent even for MLP! I thought he wouldn't shatter in the same why when Fluttershy chicken and Twilight just hit the ground undamaged when they got turned into stone by the cockatrice?

My biggest annoyance was with Twilight being out of character (stealing the orb). Ok I can get she was desperate and stressed from her friends incompetant (PP attracting attention and RD sonic rainboom alerted Tempest) but still she is a Princess of Friendship! Seriously, 7/8 of seasons on friendship went down the drain due to her outbust! Yes I know even friends still argue outburst make me think she should had thrown out her title of Princess of Friendshup! I mean what happened to just try again or asked the queen to provide them another form of aid than given them shelter (more reason why I think it should take place before season 6 since otherwise Twilight goal was to defeat Starlight than to befriend her).

Of out of the mane 6, it look like Fluttershy and Applejack got the least focus (and I guess Spike too). I mean Rainbow Dash befriend the pirate, Rarity befriend Capper, Pinkie Pie befriend Princess Skystar and Twilight befriend Tempest! Still I disagree on adding more characters, they got enough new characters to make toy out from the movie!

Oh boy there were so many plotholes where do I begin?-

Celestria should really invest into more guards and security but I knew the outcome when I saw no guards at the entrance!

I disagreed that it take place inbetween season 7 and 8 due to many things missing due to the varies characters and allies (yes there was alot of cameo but some were still missing like Discord) missing.

I think it would had make more sense if this take place before season 5, pior to meeting Starlight. That way it make more sense to why Twilight gave her a second chance due to her distrust to anyone outside of Equestria which ultimate backfired to her at the end.

With the missing allies, why specifically seek out the hippogriff especially when the queen is a coward? Just cos they had encounter Stormking before? Even then it look like they were out of touch or did Celetria respected Nova discession to hide away her kind?!

How Pinkie and Co got back to Canterlot without an airship nor did they have enough wing power to carry everyone back in time?

The tornado sweep up the minions but not the captive ponies?

Despite of my rant and flaw on the movies, it was a decent watch!
