Nice try, but no. Do note that this is the complete screenshot, so I left nothing out of the interface. All there is to see of the GUI is on the top right.

Oooh, another good guess and a game I have not heard mentioned for a long time, but no. You are on the right track with the 90's video-based game, but I would consider my screenshot more of a puzzle game than an adventure.

The only thing that comes to mind is either a Gabriel Knight game (The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery?) or a Myst one... If it's not either of them I'll leave it up to another brave soul :)
