Aye! I'm an Irishman who's on equal footing with an Italian!

(This means if I want to kill you, I can't decide whether to hire someone or do it myself.)

I'm part Costa Rican, Peruvian, Ecuadorian, Armenian, Israeli, Italian, French, and some other stuff I can't recall. And, I was born in the US.

I live in Northern Ireland and due to my family I consider myself to be Irish.

Although the correct term for me, would be UK citizen.

American.

But German, through my father, and English waaaaaaaaay back through my mother. She's literally a descendant of George Washington.

I live in the US, but since I'm not Native American I don't feel that I can claim to be ethnically "American".

From what I know I'm 3/8 German, 1/4 Irish, 1/4 Amish, and 1/8 Welsh. I might have bits of Scottish or English in me since my mom isn't entirely sure about her family's ancestry.

Although since my Amish ancestors moved to North America back in the 17th century, I'm 9th generation American.

To the OP: I think you meant "The ethnicity thread". Ethnicity =/= nationality.

I'm Malaysian by nationality, but only because I was born there.
I'm 100% Indian by ethnicity, but I've never lived in India.
I consider myself a New Zealander though, because I've spent the majority of my 'conscious' lifetime here.

A whole lot of various honky ethnicities with a pinch of American Indian tossed in for good measure.

Born in Germany, raised mostly in Texas.

It's funny. Every government issued ID makes me look latino. I'm guessing their camers really pick up on that tiny bit of whatever tribe I have in me.

Hello, haven't seen this thread in a while.... *sighs*

Talk about history repeating itself.

I'm Irish.

And I mean ACTUALLY Irish, not Irish-American.
I'm from, and live in, the Republic of Ireland.

I won't bother going into my ancestry as it goes back centuries, not familial generations.
Hmm.
That might sound obnoxious.
Screw it.

My surname is Neville, which is Norman. (I don't want anyone quoting this and telling me it's English. They spoke French, and were from Normandy) They came to Ireland in the 1170s thereabouts.
My mother's family is Healy which is a native Irish surname.
Throw in a few lines of McCarthy here and there.

Unlike in the Americas (I'm talking about the US and Canada here as I've scant enough knowledge about South America) surnames, or last names to many of you, are actually kind important as they say a lot about where you're from, who your people are and what ancestry you have.

That said, I always think it's great that people can have a great mix of nationalities and cultures to claim their ancestry from.
