Is it just me or are they a little ill judged?

They are clearly aimed at attracting the casual market, but I'm just wondering if showing creepy looking kids with half of thier heads missing is a good move in this respect...

Yeah, I think these ones are a little wierd. I would prefer something a bit less abstract, and funnier. Or atleast one that tells you something about the product being advertised. I really hate those commercials that don't say a thing about the product and expect you to buy it because...why? Because the company spent a lot of money to advertise it? I could use a bit more information than that thank you.

WOW @ the video details on the second link. It's obviously a commercial produced to be aired in Britain between the woman's accent and the symbol for 129.99 English pounds.

But yeah, I see what you're saying. It just feels like a very generic and commercialized advert. I remember when video game ads actually grabbed your attention and gave you a glimpse of the game and got me excited to play it instead of just flashing the name of the game and going "HUH-DURRRP, BUY IT PLZ"

If I saw that commercial I would not want to buy an Xbox 360. I don't know who told them that those commercials were good.

I know! It doesn't tell you anything about the games or the console yet it implies that your child will somehow get so addicted to it that it will physically manifest itself in his skull.

Muh...I don't mind it. I hate the fact that we're force fed all these advertisements every single moment of every fucking day anyway, so I'd rather see something weird and wonderful that sit though B list celebrity's in tescos.

For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVblWq3tDwY

Maybe it's not aimed at the casual gamer demographic. Maybe it's aimed at the people who like creepy looking kids with half of their heads missing demographic... You know the sections of the internet I'm talking about...

Pretty much all modern marketing is directed towards the lodging the product in the consumers (literally in this case) rather than actually making them seem more appealing. For more expensive products this is pretty ridiculous, but since no one ever listens to the claims in adverts any more it's the best they can go for.

His ears look funny in the video, but what I want to know is that why in these adverts are Microsoft ONLY advertising multi-platform games? I mean, they could have done Lips at the very least, but it wasn't out then, but they could have prolonged the advertising campaign.

Yeah, Microsoft should stick to their guns. I preferred their old slogan:
"We're shallow!"

I preferred the old one where ALL the 360 games all flew into place and made a big 360. Emphasised the size of the 360 and was interesting.
The new ones freak me out.
