The New Left 4 Dead 2 Commercial

So, I'm sure many of you have seen the new commercial [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt2rGmUmm2A] for Left 4 Dead 2 - the one with the song that goes "Bang Bang Bang Bang, Vamanos, Vamanos!"? Great song, huh?

That, my friends, is a song from the best band ever, Clutch [http://pro-rock.com/]. Around since the early 90's, Clutch has a plethora of awesome songs that I heartily recommend you sample if you enjoyed "Electric Worry" (the song in the ad). Changing their sound over the years, it ranges from hardcore to stoner to groove to blues to classic rock, all of it amazing. And their music features some of the most thought-provoking lyrics around. Check it out!

...ok, sorry. There's not much to discuss. I just had to seize the opportunity to promote my favorite band. Anyone around the Escapist who knows me can tell you that I'm the resident Clutch fanboy.

They have a new ad? Is it "just on a few days ago" new or "Most recent but not technically new" new?

Either way I have yet to see it and it kinda sounds like that band was extremely indecisive, no offense.

Typical TV adverts, hiding all the good, gory and disturbing bits. But OK as game ads go, it doesn't do the normal trick of being a special render or using hopelessly buffed gameplay footage that you'll only get on a NASA supercomputer...

It's basically just the intro cutscene except with parts cut out.

I love "They're gonna need more zombies," though.

All it is is the intro to the game, with a few pieces cut out, but still, a great ad, and I did love the music, very fitting!

Meh, its just the opening sequence of the demo (perhaps the game?) diced up so there is less violence and gore with a decent soundtrack whacked on it. Still, it's better than some game adverts I've seen in my time

I doubt they'll show that advertisement over here in the UK. For those who don't know, holding the backs of your index and middle fingers in a 'v' shape up at someone is a pretty rude gesture over here. Don't ask me where it comes from, though, I have no idea.

Well, they might show it modified; they've changed the box-art so the hand is turned around the other way.

Despite the boxart 'censorship' though, we still have everything else intact.

And this is not the first time that the music of Clutch has been tied to the world of gaming! Their song "Immortal" was featured in the biker bar level of Hitman: Contracts (seen here [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7GUJzI2Xs8] at around 4:20), and the song "100011" [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdYKTek5N1Q] can be played on the jukebox in the opening sequence of the game Prey.
