If anybody is interested, and because I can't be bothered to check if there's a thread about this already, this is apparently the first picture of Chris Evans in his Captain America outfit:

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/01/13/full-costume-captain-america-image-revealed/

I'm not too fussed about seeing that either. I get the impression it will be cringingly patriotic. That's right, cringingly.
Though it is important to point out that this is his WW2 costume, from the leather pouches, soft material and helmet. They may have a more modern looking one when he appears in the Avengers.

And of course it's going to be cringingly patriotic, it's Captain America. Though Cap is a lot more interesting than non-readers give him credit.
I guess as a Brit, Captain American doesn't appeal to me. Then again I don't thing a Captain Britain would appeal to me either - he'd just end up being ridiculously homosexual.

I'm Australian and I still enjoy him.

Captain Britain isn't too bad in the comics (yes he does exist). Excalibur the UK team he's one is more about fighting dragons, wizards and inter-dimensional threats than normal super-villains.

This will fail, just like Punisher Warzones will. Tobey Maguire did a great job of acting as Peter Parker and Spiderman. Granted, the third movie failed, but that is not an excuse to remake the entire series with a new actor.

Well he has what looks like the right build. However I am unsure about the picture they used. Why is it so grim?
Haven't you heard. They're doing a "gritty reboot" ala Batman Begins
Eh?

I thought it was about him in high school.

OT: That is one ugly suit.
It is about him in high school but apparently it's going to be "grittier"(Sony's word not mine)and darker than Sam Raimi's movies

I can't comment on whether or not the film is going to be good without seeing some footage but visually, if it adheres to the quality shown here, I think it could be pretty cool.

Well that could be interesting. Can't say I've ever heard the words 'high school' and 'gritty' together before.

God, this is extremely petty and nerdy and nitpicky but...
It doesn't look right! Why did the suit needed redesigning, Spidey is in the rare category of heroes who's costumes translate well to film, it didn't need to be changed.
Maybe I'm just stuck on Tobey as Spidey, bur damn it as indifferent as I try to be, I just can't hide back the feeling of wrongness I get from this whole thing.

Personally I think it's a much better translation to film than the previous Spider-man films were. This has the feel of being an actual material whilst I could never quite shake the feeling of CGI fakeness from Maguire's costume.

I imagine this could just be a case of technology developing better however.

Maybe but when I hear the words gritty, dark and high school I get a mental image of Peter Parker as some emo kid, cutting himself in his bedroom cos "the world doesn't get him" :(

Thank you posters i though i was the only person in the world that disliked the last 3 spiderman movies. To me Raimi should stick with the genre he knows , horror.

The green goblin looked like a power rangers villain.
Spiderman 2 movie screamed computer grafics so much it made my eyes bleed
I am still trying to brainbleach the dancing scene from the 3th movie.

Not to mention the butchering of storylines , characters etc.

I am really looking forward to the reboot.

I'm going to take my Spiderman Blueray boxset and weep in the corner and pretend this isn't happening..

What was the need for a reboot? The old ones were fine - Sure the 3rd one was a little icky around the edges, but it was still entertaining..

They're just trying to re-market the series to all those morons aka Twilight fans and the like :l

Meh. It just doesn't look like something I'd watch. I liked the original one, so I'll just watch that again.

I am open minded about this. I think this is the shot right after Uncle Ben gets shot and Pete is still in his wrestler costume. He does have the right build and I cannot wait to hear him.

I WANT MORE WISECRACKS THOUGH! The past trilogy had little to none! This is Spiderman, joke-distraction is his specialty.

I always want more Spidey. And even though I liked Raimi's work, I cannot wait to see this.

Agreed, as much as I like Spider-man 1 and 2, I don't think Maguire was the best fit for Spidey's personality. Spidey is always cracking lame jokes in a hilarious way.
