So I just finished off the reboot to the splatterhouse games and I must say I had an absolute blast with this game. It hits the target demographic spot on. however I do not see it bringing in new fans. It is what it is: a super gory beat em up with loads of dismemberment, female nudity, great soundtrack, and more profanity than even House of the Dead Overkill.
It does have a few lag issues on extended play sessions, and i did encounter a few glitches that required a reload but nothing horrific such as my experiences with New Vegas. I think this has to do with the Gamebryo engine's stability.
All in all though I found it to be a great game with some good replay value. It will be more than enough to tide me over till Golden Sun: Dark Dawn drops anyhow. It also has the original trilogy on disc so you essentially get 4 games.
I do have the platinum so i know this game inside and out so if you have any questions about it id be more than happy to try and answer them for you =)
