I want it in Vietnam and I want to have an Australian campaign. Hell it could be in any of the 20th century wars, if it has an Australian campaign I'll buy a copy and be incredibly satisfied.
I agree. I've always wondered why in WWII games I can play as Brits, French, Americans and Russians, but never Australians. It seemed kind of odd to me considering the Australins were important participants in both world wars.

Then again I think we've all had enough of WWII games. Treyarch tried to make it fresh by adding the Pacific campaign which hadn't been done much before, but I always found that part of WaW incredibly boring, so odds are Kokoda wouldn't be all that interesting either. Egypt might be good just coz you get to fight Italians instead.

WWI might not be super fantastic either since it has the similar browns and greys that people are sick of seeing in WWII. Vietnam could be good so long as the setting isn't as boring as the Pacific setting in WaW.

Hmmm...I guess I don't know what the best setting'd be.
I'd enjoy the defence of Tobruk, Crete and Greece and the many defeats inflicted upon Rommel by Australian soldiers, beside New Zealanders supported by Pommy Artillery and Armour (credit where credit's due)

The Australian pacific campaign was a lot more interesting than the American one (not to disrespect the Americans of course, we were just a tactically different army) involving ambushes and pioneering guerrilla jungle warfare. A Kokoda campaign could be so intense if done right. Or even a pre-fall-of-Singapore campaign, when the Australians were wiping out whole columns of Japanese in the jungle on their way to the doomed city. It could be interesting and awesome if done right (though Treyarch would probably screw it up)

Vietnam could have an awesome Australian Campaign as well. Long Tan, the SAS's brilliant sorties and ambush's, Search and Destroy missions in enemy villages, trying to hunt down the enemy while avoiding civilian casualties.

The Australian Army (Navy and Air Force) did some incredible things that deserve recognition from the gaming world.

I think they should focus on individual people thsi time. Think about it, Call of Duty: Jack Churchill or Call of Duty: Audie Murphy would be seriously badass. Wiki them and find out why ;)
Instead of search wikipedia, watch this [http://www.cracked.com/article_17019_5-real-life-soldiers-who-make-rambo-look-like-pussy.html].

There are lot of modern campaigns that could be used, for example World War I, Korea, Vietnam, Falklands and the first Gulf war. And what hinders the developers to try a what-if scenario like in World in Conflict?

A bit controversial campaigns, but World War II from a german perspective or Soviet Assault on Afghanistan.

Pretty heavy emphasis on sword combat, which might put people off. Not me though...

The thing is, people say 'WW2 has been done to death!'. The same settings have been done to death, but the entire war? Name me a fps WW2 game that covers the African theatre.

But don't get me wrong, I would love to see something else. WW1 or Vietnam. But if I'm honest, all I really want is another Conflict: Desert Storm game...man those games were great (yes, not created by Treyarch, I know).

They should just go for hypotheticals, it gives them free reign over what happens.

The Falklands would just about qualify for DLC. WW2 from a German Perspective would be more doable than The (alleged) Taliban fighting the soviets, an American company wouldn't touch that with a 30 foot pole.

Show's over folks, pack it up, Chrome just got pwned. There's nothing left.

Wasn't Treyarch basing Call of duty 7 in Vietnam? I remember something like that here on the forums, in which someone said 'wait, isnt that the war which the Americans lost?'
Think of it, true guerrilla warfare. Making the US the Antagonists and not the protagonists when faced against against another culture. That would be unique and interesting.
Of course then it would be called a game that supports Flag burning and must be pulled.
A CoD game where you don´t play as the Americans would be perfect.Playing as Vietname's soldiers with inferiour weaponary would be rather fun.I can see the slogan right before my eyes.

Outnumber´d,Out Gunned. But better tactics always win.

i personally loved WaW, i'd like to see another. it was good that they didn't just do the whole beach landing thing, but there are still plenty of factors within WW2 that haven't been covered in games, and i'd like to see another!

That's true, many people did buy it. It was a good game, and probably the best World War II game available. But, I, and anyone I have talked to, have said that they are getting bored of the repitition in World War II. I don't think there is much more they can get out of this war that is fresh. WaW had the Japanese campaign, which had never been done before (as far as I know), so that was fresh. I'm not sure there is anything else new though.
There were other games that had a Pacific Theater campaign, but they were all bad. (that I know of.) So I guess you can say they were the first to do it well, but I only thought that WaW was only so-so. The only thing that kept me interested was the Russian campaign.

Anywho, I don't like the idea of Treyarch getting hold of the Call of Duty name again. To me, it just seems like they're only trying to one up Infinity Ward but are never successful. But I admit, I love Call of Duty 2:Big Red One and was highly surprised that it was Treyarch that made it.
