Is this what the so called "chavs" listen to? Please bear with me as I'm an American hard rocker and fortunately have never actually met one. As for the girl, she reminds me of some lady that used to be on a bunch of 80's sitcoms, but for the life of me I cant remember her name. Mainly because of her hair in the first minute of the video.

Also, I have to applaud her on the fact that she is the first pop starlet I've heard in the past year or so that hasnt relied on autotune the whole song. While I dont care for her music at all, the fact that I can tell that she actually has the ability to sing makes me respect her far more than the likes of her "contemporaries" like rebecca black.

Regardless, I still heavily dislike the song, like most pop music that comes out these days, as I still think it feels completely devoid of soul. Then again, I'm a dude obsessed with finding obscure (for where I live) 70's rock and metal bands like Budgie or Motorhead (not even lying, many people where I live have no idea who they are)so I might be a little biased in my tastes on music.
I don't know if we're thinking the same thing, but her hair makes her look like the mom from Married With Children, Peggy Bundy, played by Katey Segal, who also plays Leela.

Add text bro. Lest you face the almighty wrath of the mods.

OT: It could be worse.
I don't "hate" it but I'd change the channel on the radio because of it.

i have just stopped to think that every time a video like this comes out, thousands of people come along and say 'this sucks' etc, but if one person goes on an AC/DC video (for example) and says its bad it turns into a massive flame war.

Honestly, this sounds exactley like everything else on MTV. I have no doubt she will go far she seems to have all the negative qualities listed in her song tht all the latest hits have. I am pissed my phrase "swagger like McJagger" can no longer be used though.

To all American people viewing this thread, this is an accurate representation of most of the shit that is in British radio on a regular basis, albeit slightly worse. Yeah, only slightly...

Wow...did anyone else notice the tune for 'oh my darling clementine' in there??

"Oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my darling clementine" that one.I'm astounded by the sheer volume of pop and r'n'b songs at the moment that are mixing old/classic tunes and lyrics into their songs. The black eyed peas do it often...as do JLS. Maybe they're consciously trying to be postmodern, pastiching these iconic tunes and lyrics to make their songs somehow more marketable and ironic.

However, the irony comes from the fact that bastardising these iconic elements makes their tracks even shitter. I don't know...but when a rock band do the same thing, it seems to work, especially if the band is notoriously tongue-in-cheek with their lyrics. The style of Cher's song just makes the 'oh my darling clementine' part seem out of place, just like the Black Eyed Peas inclusion of "i'm having the time of my life" in one of their songs...

As for the haters thing...I don't care what people do or do not hate. Opibnions are opinions and people will always try to change your's if it clashes with theirs'.

Yes I did. It's probably the first thing I noticed, besides the late 80's and 90's vomiting the look of this video up. And I also wanted to quote you because you have an Aku Aku avatar. ^_^

Oh she did not befoul Clementine.

OT: "Haters Gonna Hate" is a legitimate argument, but that doesn't mean it's a get out of jail free for anything. It justifies liking something, but it doesn't mean something is good in any form.

just as with "Friday" the singer's voice was extreamly altered so she might be good and she might not be, but the more likely possibility when you HAVE to alter the voice this much is that she probably isn't...

as for the actual song: meh, have heard worse, and I have definetly heard better. it is not unique or particualry catchy.

I always thought the saying for people stealing your style and rhymes was swagger jacker. How do you jag someone's material? jacking sounds more proper to me. Maybe I'm comparing it too much to a biter. It's kinda funny cause her dress style and song remind of some Asian pop idols with a hip hop influence.

Wow. All I need is the still image for the video, the name of the song and the name of the person for me to say I hate it.
Alright boys come on out! We got another witch hunt!

For those who don't follow the British X-Factor, she was a contestant on it last time round, an all-round annoying brat who happened to be really good at singing and distinctly average at rapping, yet chose to do the second most of the time. Came fourth.

This video got me thinking about the concept of "haters" though, at first it just brought to mind the obnoxious example of someone completely ignoring a well thought-out argument with "haters gonna hate"

However, the more I thought about it, the concept of people saying "haters gonna hate" is really a good thing.
It states: I'm different, I'm going to enjoy what I like, and not just not enjoy something because you tell me I shouldn't be enjoying it. It's an acceptance that we all like different things, and that that's ok.

What do you think of the video, and the concept of "haters"?
You need massive amounts of ego to pull this off.
This is.... pure bred shit.
Wow.
As long as there is a demand there will always be someone there to supply it. Therefore if people stop listening to this shit, people will stop making similar shit.

It's like Nyan Cat puked on her video.
TOO MANY GRAPHICS FLYING EVERYWHERE. Can't pay attention to anything going on in the video. Then again that might be a good thing. Not as bad as Friday, but still pretty bad.

It isn't the new Friday. It is awful, but Friday had a quirky 'so bad its good' vibe, and the lyrics were just ridiculous. This is just rubbish.
