(Refferring to the tital) How is that step logical?

I wouldn't expect it any time soon, though. Didn't Blizzard already leak the title of their next MMO being 'Titan'? And that isn't coming out until 2013-2014, so chances are we wouldn't see another MMO from them until the 2020's, and it might not even be starcraft. I don't think a Starcraft MMO ever happening is very likely...
I don't think Titan is going to be the name of the next of Blizzard's MMO's. I think it is just a placeholder name in the same vain that Return of The Jedi's placeholder was "Blue Harvest" (Family Guy did not pull that episode tital from thin air).

To be fair on your part, though: Sometimes the placeholder name may hold the place longer than initially intended. Take Oni, for example: Its name was left in the placeholder stage because the writers couldn't think of a better name.

Edit: Fixed a spelling error of how I typed "Locigag", or "Logical" as it is ment to be spelt.

I'd play a StarCraft MMO just to be a Ghost.

Not sure if I'd play it for long, but I'd play it.

If nothing else, though, TOR's Imperial Agent class seems close enough to the Ghost.

Eh, no, not unless they do something radicaly different with it (but this IS Blizzard we are talking about, the word "change" is not in their vocabulary.) If it plays just like WOW with a SC skin: Pass.

First of all, Titan is the CODENAME for the upcoming MMO. The codename is pretty irrelevant. It's used to two reasons; the first being as a placeholder, until the name has actually been decided. It is also intended as a way for Blizzard to talk about their future product, without revealing too much about the game.

Second; Blizzard have said VERY few things about Titan, but they have said that it WILL be a new IP, meaning it will NOT be Starcraft, and there isn't really any point in making guesses from their current games, as they are not related to the new MMO.

That said, there are also rumors about the new MMO being an MMOFPS, but this is not official as of yet.

i think you need to look up the definition of "logical"...
But no. i'm perfectly okay with SCII the way it is and see no need for the franchise to continue, especially to an outlet of such.

It wouldn't work as well as WoW, plus it would kill any new RTS Starcraft's which are the most successful RTS's of all time (far more successful than the already hugely successful Warcraft games) so it doesn't make much sense business wise either.

WoW has a huge backstory spanning tens of thousands of years with many unresolved plot lines. Basically WoW has been out since 2004 and there have only been a few truly new additions to canon, mostly it has all been working out unfinished plot points from Warcraft's massive universe. Starcraft would basically have to create mostly new plot lines, which could be good but could also be horrible not to mention requiring far more work.

A new MMO makes more sense imo, though World (or Worlds?) of Starcraft would be fun.

Would you like to play an MMO based on the Starcraft universe and designed by Blizzard?
I would play it if they made it, but would I want them to make it?`Not really.

Sure the game would be awesome, but why do they need to make MMOs out of all of their games?

Personally I am longing for a new WarCraft RTS game, but I will probably not see that in forever...

So the question is:
Would Blizzard "destroy" StarCraft by making an MMO from it?

I would rather see them make an singel player RPG game set in the StarCraft Universe though, as this would not hinder any new SC games as an MMO would.

PS: What is this topic doing in the Off-Topic forum? I mean it is a topic about games, is it not?
Quite an interesting idea, to be honest, and an idea I know I'd like playing.

Blizzard has specifically stated that they won't be making an MMO out of Starcraft, but purely on a hypothetical:

It might be worth looking at, but it would have to be something special to live up to inevitable hype. Like how WoW pretty much pioneered the whole faction v faction element of MMOs, a Starcraft MMO would need it's own major innovation that would inevitably cause countless clones.

Judging by WoW's treatment of Warcraft lore though, I'd hope they don't change their minds and make rounds on the Starcraft world.

EDIT: However! If they were to set it BEFORE the events of Starcraft, with it's own stories and characters without directly using the exist ones, that might be worth exploring. It would be harder to ruin established lore if you can't logically touch on it.

Call me interested, especially because all 3 races offer such a unique style of play. Terrans would give MMOFPS-style gameplay, Protos more traditional MMORPG action and the Zerg could offer Overlord/Pikmin-style mechanics. Though how thatd be balanced...

But I highly doubt they'll make it, actually I'm quite sure they won't. They already said that their new project, now revealed as being Titan, will feature an entirely new game universe. I oh-so wonder what they're cooking.

I doubt Blizzard would ever create a Starcraft MMO (at least not like WoW) for several reasons. First they already have WoW. Why would they make another game that would compete with their own? Secondly Starcraft is a classic RTS in a league unlike Warcraft. Don't get me wrong, the Warcraft RTSs were fun, but Starcraft is like the RTS of Blizzard. They'll probably keep it as is. Plus Starcraft doesn't really lend itself to the RPG experience. In Warcraft III you had actual hero units and there were very powerful characters running around all over the place (Jaina, Arthas, Tyrande, Illidan, Thrall, Cairne; the list goes on). Sure in Starcraft there are "hero" units, but they're usually just souped-up regular units that look different. And since beyond maybe Kerrigan and Zeratul there aren't too many people who can change the course of a war single-handly; its a war about armies clashing, not heroes.

Although I heard about this "Titan" MMO they're working on. If its something of a different vein then WoW I might get it. Like an FPS for instance. That would be very fun.

If it's an FPS, than I'd like to check it out. There have been very few of those in the MMO market...

But if it just involves more role-playing, than I wouldn't bother with it.

Think of it economically though.. Most people don't have time to play more than one MMO, and even those that do tend to become hopelessly hooked on one rather than flitting between the two. This means that effectively, as the producers of the most successful MMORPG in the world, Blizzard would be competing with themselves by releasing a similar product. That doesn't seem likely to happen.

I'd bet large sums of money that, unless Blizzard is going to make a big thing of phasing out WoW (which they don't seem likely to do given how many subscriptions it still gets) Titan (whatever it is) will be deliberately different to World of Warcraft. They're going to want something different which will sucker people who wouldn't play world of warcraft, not just a reskinned repeat performance of a game which already exists. While I may not have great faith in Blizzard's ability to be original, I have perfect faith in their ability to smell money at 500 paces and in this case I suspect that instinct will win out.

Hey guys, it's already been made!

If Blizzard even thinks about making World of Starcraft, I hope Dark Millenium beats it to the ground.

Now taking this from a different perspective, I can see it happening but if their plan is to get them playing 2 MMOs... that might change some thoughts of Blizzard being the good guys.

I love Starcraft 2, using elements of every Sci-Fi franchise out there has some good points right? I play the game (but I'm not very good at it), I might try it out but please, stick to pleasing your RTS fans.

I mean it'd be a lie to say the prime reason it took so long for Starcraft 2 to come out is because of World of Warcraft, now if they make yet another MMO how do you think them Starcraft players would react?

Also the Lore in Starcraft to say the least is fucked up. First problem is when this MMO set? During the 4-year period is a good idea BUT! that means there are no Zerg. During Starcraft 1? Are you kidding me, that game is set over I don't know 3 months. Starcraft 2? Maybe, but you'll have to stretch the timeline so thin it might feel boring.

Also it'd be a bit drastic to change what some units and can't do. Marauders can't attack flying units, so what are you going to do Blizzard, change that? I mean it should at least try to keep some of the Lore in the game...
And being this is Blizzard, it's probably just a WoW with a different skin and theme.

Just no please...
