it could be a bit tricky to make a game about it. but does anyone remember the gun in Red alert 2 that removes units from time and space?

I remember thinking about how if it really did erase them from time surly it would effect the course of the war, any units they killed should return to life? perhaps a gun that does this but effects the game so completely as to change the entire enviroment of the game itself.

what you think?

Maybe if there was a game where you don't need a gun at all?

Looking back in my copy of Raising the Bar, I've remembered that Valve had the idea of Prospero [http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Prospero], a game featuring a female with psionic powers. What if Valve had released it, and included abilities able to repel and manipulate objects at will. Valve's been experimenting a lot with gameplay and psychology influences, so when a good such tech product (that gamers can use) comes out, then some companies (if not Valve) might jump on the opportunity.

Geography editor.

A gun that can raise or lower parts of the battlefield.

i.e. someone is shooting at you so you take a shot at the ground at their feet.
1. a small hill shoots upwards hurling the guy into the air.
2. a crater forms dropping the guy allowing you to cross over and take him down.

It's not much of a weapon, but it provides a new aspect to puzzle solving problems.
Never played Fracture I take it?
Never heard of it.

Perhaps a time gun. We've seen games that let you reverse time for the whole world, but how about one that reverses time on specific objects?

Example: Enemy begins to open fire on you, you shoot into his gunfire, bullets return from whence they came, but end up killing him because they're going in at the same velocity they came out.

Both the portal and gravity gun changed the way first person shooters worked. And they were revolutionary on both a technical and gameplay level.
Simple topic: Think of a weapon that would change the way people play games as much as those two weapons had.
How about one that selectively accelerates, decelerates, or even reverses the effect of time on the object it targets? Locked door? Just "rewind" it to a time when it was open... or "fast forward" it to a time when it decays and falls apart. Uses on living things would have dangerously unpredictable results...
Have you been watching red dwarf? XD

OK, it was a glove... (Well, first time around. The season 8 stuff had a 'time wand' as well.)

A teleportation gun. Aim, fire, and you're where you fired at. And you need to be able to use it all the time, or else it's just a gimmick.

Singularity did that and failed horribly.

Um... a pistol that makes more damage than throwing a dry stick.

Actually CS has had it for a long time, but even there it's just couple of them. Hmm...
What is this herresy you speak of?! Somewhat realistic weapon damage has NOTHING to do in my realistic shooters! Be gone, demon!
...
Now to kill that guy over there, hope this 30 round magazine will be enough...
Yeah, I know it sounds just crazy and out of this world. I mean, pistols were actually invented just to irritate enemies, rather than do some serious damage to them.

Actually the most expensive pistol(s) in CS:S are the terrorist-exclusive Dual Elites, which have 30 rounds combined. They're a bit wacky (especially if you bind mwheelup +attack) but two shots to the head will diminish HP under 0, even if the enemy has a helm. But all I practically can do with, is one shot with deagle.

There should be more outstanding FPS's. With non-generating health, and lethal guns, and easy-to-learn-difficult-to-master principle, and forget the gameplay quality reducing part of realism... That's probably the tallest order. Ever.

Hei! How do you think you're calling a demon, aye? You're a vampire. And a cat, which is even worse.

The Dog Cannon.

It shoots out a litter of Pit Bulls at your opponent, and afterwards, the target reticle of the gun directs where they go.

Come on, you all know you want a gun that shoots dogs.

Never played it. Looking at the reviews, doesn't seem like the gun was a factor in it's mediocrity, though.

The portal gun didn't revolutionize anything. The only thing that's used it since portal is Darksiders.
The Gravity gun was just a grab and throw button.
Pretty much this.
They didn't really change anything.

Don't have any ideas myself but I always enjoy seeing what new weapons Insomniac comes up with in their games. They get pretty creative.
