As the subject says, really. You can make a top 10 list, a top 5 list, you can name all of the games that come to mind, you can provide some exposition on your choices if you want, and they don't have to be in any particular order. Go nuts and do whatever with it, just don't start any flame wars. Here are mine in no real order, with the exception of number 1:

1.Chrono Trigger
2.Zelda: Wind Waker
3.Viewtiful Joe
4.Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town
5.Guitar Hero 3
6.Psychonauts
7.Sonic the Hedgehog 2
8.Sonic Adventure
9.KOTOR
10.Ace Attorney series (I can't pick just one)

EDIT: Also feel free to edit if you end up thinking of something better, like I just did =P (Goodbye Battlefront, hello KOTOR!)

1. Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn
2. Sonic 3 & Knuckles
3. Total Annihilation

I was going to do more, but these are so far ahead in my mind that to list anything else seemed like an injustice

Is this the, we get to list some of the best games and would say, "Fuck you" to anyone who disagrees but we wont' do that because we are civil, thread? Alright.

Wolfenstein 3D- Probably the game that got me to stay in gaming when my parents would only let me play on the computer with no consoles.

Oblivion- The only game I can lose 6 hours on and not even care.

Starcraft- For a RTS it had a surprisingly interesting story and sparked a few books and one of them I read and thoroughly enjoyed.

Super Mario Bros 3- A classic. One of the best platformers of all time.

Sins of a Solar Empire- an absolutely great RTS. The three factions are pretty deep and though tehre is no story, the skirmishes themselves are awesome. And the scrolling down into battle then out to lightyears distances... KIckass.

Rome Total War- A game I have kept playing for the past 2 years as testimony to its greatness. Even without the mods it is great but when you add that CA made an engine that is easily moddable... oh boy! Roma Surrectum 2 is on its way!

Sonic and Knuckles- THE best sonic game out there.

Tomb Raider 2- A game that me and my dad shared an interest with. AND it was good.

God of War- You just can't not like GoW. Too much fun being Kratos taking part in an epic.

Devil May Cry 3- Far easier than DMC1, but with the added moves it made it a blast to play.

The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past- Extremely fun. I haven't quite beat it but it had the best story of the series, the best combat, and the absolute best art style of any SNES game.

Civilization 3- "just oen more turn" This is a phrase that people cannot say enough about CIV3

Shadow of the Colossus- THe only game where I was moved to tears and I actually felt like a horrible person.

Pokemon Silver- THe best pokemon game to date. It goes from Kanto to Johto and created a link between the two generations of pokemon games. WIth Day and Night and the bug catching zone, 16 gyms, nostalgia, and yet something new, this game I would still be playing since release had it not been for the cartridge to go capoot.

In no real order:

1) Prince of Persia: Sands of Time - This game, I feel, was what really brought me into gaming. It took an entire month for me to beat on my first playthrough and I thoroughly enjoyed it(I got that down to a 6 hours playthrough later on.)

2) Star Ocean: Till The End Of Time - First major rpg and terrific fun do to me not caring much for the Final Fantasy type of RPG back then. This game also took me a good month to beat and I still have never beatin' the bonus dungeons, all because of that damned Gabriel Celeste. Damn you and your large area of effect, insta death attacks within a very small arena!

3) Shadow of the Colossus - Though it took me less than a week to beat (I think it was 2 days, but I'm not sure anymore) it is the first game I ever started a second playthrough on immediately after completing the first playthrough, and hell, it nearly rocked me to tears for a horse. Agro is awesome.

4) Bioshock - The thing I truly got out of this game was the story, whose twist was literally jaw dropping. I play games mostly for the story, so when I find a game that's a fun playthrough and contains something as great as Bioshock had, I simply fell in love with the game.

5) Half Life 2(And following episodes) - My first foray into a Valve game, I became an instant fan. Half Life provided some terrific puzzles, fun gameplay, and amazing pacing. The following episodes just added to the amazement and the end of EP2 brought me just as close to tears as Agro did from SotC.

6)Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness - Recommended to me by a friend, I picked it up and instantly fell in love with the hilarious SRPG. For some reason I put it down for half a year but I picked it up again in the summer and beat every single facet in such a way so to completely distort my sleep cycle out of all recognition and to input the hub world music so deeply into my skull that I would leave the house without my PSP and still hear it constantly playing...

I think that just about covers all my beloved games. Top 6 FTW.

1. Mass Effect
2. Planescape: Torment
3. Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn

Okay, there's a lot to add, but here's my top three. I'd add platformers, shooters, more RPGs and stuff, but I can't decide the order any longer than that.
