The OH-COME-ON-NOW Moment

Now this is a good moment of mine in gaming.

During Left 4 Dead 2 the Sacrifice, I walked up on the edge and I was a step away from water when I was thinking to myself "I wonder if I could swim?"

A charger came from behind to give me the answer to that question. This happened twice in two different games on two different stories. The Director's a dick.

But anyway escapist-o-forum, what is your "OH COME ON NOW" moment?

When your team activates the teleporter in Nazi zombies and you miss it by *that* much.
Well, at least the swiftly approaching zombie horde can keep me company.

When playing Pokémon, when you're on that last grass tile and you get a random encounter.
In fact, any game where you're a step away from safety and you get a random encounter.

Pretty much every unexpected death in a game. Being one-shot in Mass Effect1/2 while trying to get the highest difficulty achievement is not challenging. It's just unfair.

Getting one shot by an enemy in the same "difficulty bracket" in any game.

Getting matched against opponents of greater difficulty.

Blood Bowl has these moments, thanks to it's reliance on dice rolls. In one match I lost ever. single. one. of my rolls; passes, blocks, even picking up the freakin' ball, even when using top notch players!

L4D2 had these moments a lot as well, more so than L4D1. You barely survive a couple of huge zombie hordes and surprisingly well-coordinated SE's, you're nearly at the safe house; hello Tank!

Getting matched against opponents of greater difficulty.

Dawn of War 2 pulled this 'joke' with me time and time again.

Every time I'm cloaked and I bump into an enemy Pyro or enemy holding a shotgun. Since I use Conniver's Kunai and my max health is shit in a bun, four out of five times I'm instakilled.

The most recent was probably the video of that girl playing Portal 2 posted in a recent thread. When she actually had the solution, and then lost it again.

I had a metric ton of them in Super Meat Boy, and I'm not even going to think about IWTBTG.

Playing Nazi Zombies on Der Reise (WaW Der Reise, not Black Ops) with my friends. We'd been doing pretty well and I had a PaP'd weapon by round 9. I upgraded the double-barrelled shotgun for a laugh and discovered, with Speed Cola, it wasn't half bad.
Anyway, we were camping the cat walk area when on of my friends kept yelling at me to move out of his way, I did and fell out of the window into a horde of zombies. Thanks to my boomstick I worked my way over to the Quick Revive room and was holding up there. Until I fell through the hole in the floor... I was now stuck in a cramped corridor area with zombies pouring in and a double barrel. It was a tense round but I persevered (might have something to do with having an insanely powerful gun before double digit rounds) and as I go to leave the tunnel I'm stopped. Several crawlers have blocked my way forward and were advancing rapidly. Nothing my boomstick couldn't handle, but I needed breathing room. I go to back up, but I'm stopped. Panicking I start blasting away at the crawlers when I hear "Hey, Megawat, move. You're in my way!". I was mauled by a swarm of crawlers because my friend was behind me, stopping me from moving. After I survived a round on my own.
I got him back though! On Verruckt, I spawned on the side opposite from him and there was only the 3 of us (I was on one side with my other friend and he was on his own). Threw a grenade through a slot in the wall and he got killed by a ninja crawler on round 4. He was on his own so he didn't get revived and what's better, he didn't fade out until the next round had started.
Crawlers, man. Damn crawlers.

When in Left 4 Dead 2 during the Rock concert finale as you are sprinting desperately towards the waiting helicopter, a tank sucker punches you away into the stands... OH COME ON!

GTA IV, where I was right at the end of a mission, about to kill one last guy, when Packie McCreary ran straight in front of my AK-47 and died. Mission failed, have to start again.

When the lift doors open at the end of Portal 2 and you're facing 4 turrets aimed directly at you right after GLaDOS grants you freedom.
Yeah, there was a opera right after that and you're actually set free, but still it made GLaDOS seem like an actual despicable b#$%^ for a moment. After all I did for her, she gets her turrets against me again? I mean; COME ON.

When someone in BC2 takes a round from a sniper rifle / entire clip of rifle rounds to the chest / head and either runs off or turns around and kills instantly. Same story for CS:S but not quite as bad.

When any wild pokémon uses Explosion just to be a bastard.

Lastly: Martyrdom.

All the insta-kills in half life 2. And that one headcrab that waits until you're just about to get the health kit before it grabs your last bit of health.

Was about to beat the warehouse boss in Mafia II. I got attacked from behind and barely survived.

Then the boss proceeded to toss that fucking molotov that hits you through crates and kills me.
