do what the saints row series did and abandon realism, but i did like niko bellic as the main character
Then what makes it different from Saints Row?

I fail to see how the grit and realism in GTA4 was so bad. I enjoyed it immensely.

But then again, I'm the same individual who took Roman bowling so I could listen to dialogue.

I agree. San Andreas had the right balance of grittiness and wacky humor, but GTA4 takes it way too far. Realism and depressing characters aren't fun.

I think an option to kidnap people or maybe be able to rob shops would be pretty cool, pointless, but cool.

There's also another feature. It's called checkpoints. Rockstar's reluctance to include them so far is unacceptable. It's an essential feature. Most players don't like doing that shit.
Exactly what I came in here to say. Thankfully there are checkpoints in red dead redemption which probably means they'll be in GTA V.

I want my "Hot Coffee" God damnit!

But seriously, it'd be great if they fixed driving. You know, just a suggestion R*, considering the fact that most of the game is based around cars. Also, less car chases that involve shooting the other car, that mechanic coupled with the broken driving and lack of checkpoints is literally worse than Aids.

I think they need to include the Own-a-Company aspect, with the developement of small time businesses into fully fledged profit making establishments.
I think it's great in VC where you buy the Print Works and you have to do missions to build up its profit margin,or stealing and delivering cars to increase the Showrooms value which also gave you access to unique vehicles

Well... health regen would be kind of nice, too. That's the stuff Saints Row does better than GTA.
and fun, that's something Saint's Row does far better!

That's pretty much the most debatable statement you could make on a gaming forum.

What I'd love in GTA5 would be to keep GTA4 physics [Or have them as a optional feature] and add in the Super Punch cheat from San Andreas. That cheat with ragdoll physics.. fun will be had.

Let me tell you what feature it doesn't need; the fucking friend system of GTA4. If I want to manage friendships I'll go play The Sims 3 alright?

What it does need? Set it in Vice City. What I wouldn't do to return to that place.

That's what I love the Stories of Liberty City. Instead of awkwardly balancing it like Yathzee described, they went the serious road with The Lost And Damned and it worked, and with The Ballad of Gay Tony they went the silly road and it worked too. I never finished the vanilla game, but the Episodes are ranking high in my favourite game lists. Loved the characters, loved the increased variation in missions, loved the lack of Roman harrassing me about BEEEEG AMEEERICAN TIIITIES.

Fuck the PC helicopter controls though.

agreed, I'd take it back but one can't help the way one feels!
I'm not starting a GTA v Saint's Row debate, I happen to like both series,
I just didn't get on with GTA IV

Perfectly acceptable. I, for one, really loved GTA IV and just liked SR2. That's why I'd say this is too subjective and, unlike with checkpoints, not something you really can argue about using conventional logic.

There's a perfectly shameless plug... ahem. A perfectly good forum on which to discuss this. http://www.gtaforums.com/

I want a working carnival. What was the point of adding those rides in if they were going to be nothing more than set pieces anyways?

By the way, I really do want more of you guys on the forums. It would help balance the fanboy to logic ratio a little bit more.

Wasn't there a carnival in Vice City Stories, I definitely remember fighting a helicopter while riding a ferris wheel.

They need to make GTA5 more like San Andreas. In my opinion, San Andreas was the pinnacle of the entire series. Make it like that but more over the top and we're in business.
Play Saint's Row, it's exactly that
I refuse to spend money on half assed ports.

If I remember correctly the "Stories" games were exclusive to the PSP and therefore unavailable to a large percentage of gamers.

How about characters that don't call you up every fifteen minutes, wanting to go bowling, to the bar, or other such nonsense. It started to drive me nuts late game, when I had several different characters doing this.

While I had the option to turn off my phone, it also cuts out some of the extra missions.

On top of that, I would like to see a bit of the wackiness come back in for GTA V. It just wasn't the same game without a tank and some of the more insane, highly powerful weapons to find.

You should be able to prostitute yourself. Then go on a quest to find the cure to Herpes. Along the way you'll fight with a fluffy white cloud, seven magical dwarf-sized ponies and a tub of grape jelly Kool-Aid.

Would be eeeeeepiiic.
