Platformers are the exception because they are essentially puzzle games like Sudoku.
For instance, IMO the combat in dragon age series really pales in comparison to combat in world of warcraft. It isn't even remotely close. WOW is so much better for combat, even if Dragon age allows for more story-telling elements. But where dragon age is better than WOW is in the dialogue choices available, which sort of is a puzzle. That's why I play bioware games on easy
