PC. No doubt.

Updates more or less every month and the engineer class update isn't too far off now.

PC is still getting constant updates and every class has had about 3 new weapons, Apart from the Engy which is coming soon.

Xbox has had nothing new added and I doubt it has been patched. It was made for PC, get it for PC.
These two sum it up perfectly, no more need be said.

Thanks, it seems like Im definitely going with the PC. Can anyone give me a clue as to where to buy it? I see that its on steam alone for 19.99, but apparently one of my friends has gotten the whole Orange Box for roughly 20$ before.

Also, which class should I start out with, as someone with a good deal of experience in Team Work centered FPS (L4D, Halo, Gears, ect)
Just try them all, and you will almost certainly find one that you love.

I'm not sure what that is for you in $ but I'm guessing it's close-ish to $20, Valve games will almost always be cheaper on Steam (for obvious reasons) so that's probably your best bet, if you're willing to wait for a while then Valve might eventually do one of their weekend deals where The Orange Box is half price or something but I would just say get it now since for $20 it's still incredibly good value.

PC, because the XBox version is shit. That's not PC elitism, the XBox version is literally shit compared to the PC one. No updates or support whatsoever.

Your average game store should probably still have a couple of copies lying around for pretty cheap, or you can just buy directly through Steam, which occasionally comes with ridiculous sales. Not often, but if you can catch one it's awesome.

Now, should I go ahead and get the whole Orange box, or just TF2?
Definitely the entire box, they're close enough to the same price to make buying TF2 on it's own pointless as it is but if you haven't even played Episode 1 and 2 you should because they're as good as you might expect (IMO), and Portal is just downright an amazing little gem.

I used to play on 360 but I had switched to PC recently as my disc broke.

Oh boy, I couldn't believe what I was missing out on while playing the 360 version.

I started as the scout and found it fun, but died all the time. Then I screwed around with a bunch of other classes, played as the Engie and Sniper for awhile, then suddenly started kicking ass as the Scout.

I think the Pyro is straightforward enough to be newbie-friendly, as a Medic you can be helpful to your team without really doing anything overly complex (just run around healing people near the front lines) and just switch classes whenever your team needs one more of X class, or when you're bored of what you're doing.

OT: PC, it hurts me to say it because I'm 360 but Tf2 updates, I want them sooooo badly.

Thanks all, just bought the Orange Box off of Steam, time to hone my PC FPS skills!
Good luck! Hope to see you on sometime.

My advice to you is to find a friendly server community, like the Escapist here, or perhaps Fugworld as well.

Medic is great for newbies, since all you need to do is follow other people around. It's a good way to learn the maps and feel like you're being helpful. Similarly, soldier, pyro, heavy, and scout are easy to pick up and good if you feel like killing people right away. Sniper is all right if you're new, although it can get dull. I'd wait until you know the game to try engineer, demo, or spy. Demo is a little technical, engineers need to know the maps so they don't drop machines pointlessly, and spy is very hard unless you know what all the other classes do and how they act.
