The origins of the virus, where it came from, and how it works is unknown. What is known is the results. It turns the normal human into a monster, a vampire you could say. The vampire feeds and spreads it's infection to spread the virus. Two year after the virus was released among the world, a pharmaceutical company found a cure. However, this cure didn't kill the virus. It transformed them into something better. Instead of a hostile interaction between the host and virus, the vaccine creates a Symbiotic relationship, similar to the Clownfish and the Sea Anemone. The virus fuses with host's DNA and changes the host into a new species, a ParaHuman. They call it "Fountain of Youth in a Syringe." But the virus doesn't always behave as expected. There are unexpected side effects of being a ParaHuman. Despite all of the claims the Pharmaceutical companies say how safe it is to be a ParaHuman, the line between human and monsters is a thin one.
The Year is 2043 and it has been fifteen years since the technological boom of 2028. Crime had been on a decrease, standards of living on the increase and many analysts saw no end in sight. But that all changed with the virus outbreak six years ago. Fear and panic filled the streets, crime ran rampant and the media called it the end of the world. When things were looking their worst, Gaia Pharmaceutical created the cure the virus and created something better. A new, forcibly evolved, subspecies of humans called ParaHuman. The ParaHumans have appeared and are slowly taking over the place of Homo Sapiens. Many claim that it isn't a matter of if, but when. Despite the vaccine, the feral vampires continue to run rampant among abandoned buildings and sewers. To combat this problem, the governments of the world have come to the conclusion the best way to handle the problem is to hire mercenary organizations, nicknamed Exterminators. These Exterminators have been deemed a necessary evil by many for their sometimes illegal actions. They can be hired to provide personal protection and corporate warfare.
Angerona is one of one of the lesser known Exterminator, but they are always looking for talented individuals. And you are one of their newest hires. There is a reason why they have hired you. May it be your combat prowess, your technical abilities, or just your charming personality. Either way, you are the best at what you do and Angerona is always looking for good talent.
Welcome to the very first of many Broken Orange production! Here is the deal, You have been hired by a Vampire Hunting group, but we won't just be hunting vampires. What is so different about this RP? you can either be a Human or a ParaHuman (my term for vampire). I can't wait to go on an adventure with you beautiful people. If you have any question, whether it be about please don't hesitate. The only bad question is the unasked one.
While the population of "vampires", the term given by news media, are increasing, they are still a minority. Yet, in 5 years, it is expected that about 65% (+/- 5%) of humans will become ParaHumans. While it would seem like that it would be perfect to become a ParaHuman, many are hostile towards the aspect of a "vampire society." Those who are outspoken against ParaHumans are worried about the possibility of becoming a dangerous monster without any warning. Not enough is known about the virus, they claim, for it to be this popular. The pandemic just a few years ago is still fresh in the minds of several people, many family members are dead. The dangers of Bloodheads, ParaHumans addicted to human or animal blood, are a dangerous part of being ParaHumans. Usually, Bloodheads will mutate into the Unhumans, the monstrous risk of the vaccine.
Those who are vampires are regraded with fear by some, resented by most and the rest are apathetic towards them. With their greater strength and vision, they have been getting a lot of work from the military and mercenary companies.

They are slowly becoming a second class citizen. They are prey for the monstrous Type 1 and 3. While still a sizable amoeunt of humans left, many are fearful that the Vampires will either force them to convert, or wipe out humans from the face of the earth.
There are two types of vampire hunters. The first kind are the ones paid by the government to hunt down feral vampires. These organizations hire both humans and ParaHumans. The second types are vigilantes, killing any types of vampires. They think that they are an abomination against humanity.

Gaia Pharmaceutical:
With the virus outbreak of 2037, pharmaceutical companies around the world tried to find a cure for the disease; nearly all of them had failed. The problem is that the virus mutated faster than a cure could created. Gaia Pharmaceutical managed to find a way to combat the virus. While they weren't able to kill the virus without killing the host, they found a way to make the virus helpful, instead of harmful. The adverts say that this vaccine will cause the "highest level of human evolution" so to speak. For the vaccine to stay effective, the infected needs to get a shot every 3 months for a surprisingly low price. It is the initial vaccine that is expensive.
While famous for their vaccine, Gaia sells products to make ParaHuman life easier. Some of the products include: the Viral Sterilization Mouth Spray to prevent the spread of the virus to those who aren't infected, and Ultra Strength UV Block which repels 99.9% of all UV rays allowing ParaHuman to be expose to the sunlight without the risk of getting burnt.

Metamorphose of ParaHuman Life:
They make everyday products safe for vampires. MoPL is just a merger of companies of all types so that infected people can live in the same quality as others, weither adding underground walkways in major cities or making windows UV proof. While there are independent companies offering more individual products, MoPL is government funded and anyone, with a mark up on their taxes, can use it.

ProTech Automotive:
A (formally) small car repair shop, who base of operation boomed with the Vampire infection, that can modify any car so that anyone infected with the virus can drive in the day light, without risk of getting sunburnt. While more expensive than the government funded MoVL, the quality of work is substantially better. "If you are a ParaHuman on the road, would you accept anything less less?"

Cooper Industry
Formed just as the technological boom of 2028, they had slowly risen as the highest grossing weapon contractor in the world, selling weapons and armor to nations and private contractors world round. Recently, they have been creating armor specially designed so that ParaHumans can combat in anytime of the day and weapons to defend against vampire attack. One notable weapon includes the UV Torch, A compact rifle grip flashlight that releases burst of UV light.

WestBrooke Defense Firm:
During the initial outbreak of the virus, the military took a major blow. To handle the slack in the military, America and the other major world governments hired and gave them tax benefits to Private Military Corporations. WestBrooke is one of the more successful PMC. They have taken up extermination as a specialty, but their main income is protection for the major corporations. Despite their clean outer appearance, their has been rumors of some illegal activities.

Angerona:
A Mercenary/Vampire Hunting mercenary organization. Named after the Roman goddess who relieved man of pain and sorrow. Founded two months after the initial virus outbreak by a retired general. They assisted with the containment and eradication of the feral vampires. After the vaccine was found, they continued to control the population of the remaining vampires. Vampire hunting, while a major source of income, is just but one small part of their overall, business. They can be offered to do any service, for the right price.

Nemesis (pro-human):
They used to be a political party, until a significant chunk decide to break off and form the Nemesis. They plan to destroy the vampires that are taking over their world. While condemned by all in public, they get most of their funding from senators and corporations that would benefit with the removal of vampires. In fact, they work hand in hand with Mexican drug cartels. Vamps aren't effected by cocaine at all, which is killing their business. There are two factions within the Nemesis organization, one who just want human freedom, the other wants human dominance.

Vampires (Type 1):
While the origins of the virus and how it works is unknown, it's causes are disturbing to say the least. For the first 12 hours after exposure, the infected has nearly crippling aches and pains in all of their joints; their bones start to lose their density, becoming lighter, and their muscles become stronger. The shoulders, hips, and the spine takes the mass the rest of the bones are losing, and they stretch against the skin. The fingernails become claws and the teeth become razor sharp. After the 12 hours, the infected losses all humanity. They go insane. To survive, they must drink, at least, 2 pints of blood a month on average. The virus is a very interesting one. While one infected vampire is dangerous on there own, the virus has a hive mind. The viruses of different hosts can, somehow, communicate with each other, telling of other of food sources. This way, they can effectively hunt in a pack with deadly effectiveness, if they have to.
What they lack in strength, they make up in agility, hyper-healing abilities, and ruthlessness. One interesting survival aspect about their physiology is that they can survive up to 5 hours without any oxygen to the brain.
When they find a prey, they grab them by arms and bite into the neck or where ever they can. If they don't critically need a blood supply, they only take enough blood to survive for the week. Their saliva contains the virus, which has healing and clotting abilities, much like the vampire bat and mosquito. But if they are starving or in a pack, they drain all the blood they can, tearing the victim to pieces. UV rays are fatal to them. Unlike the folklord vampires, there isn't a stake to the heart needed to kill them, they don't need permission to enter your home, and religious relics have no effect on them. They have an allergy to silver, however. While tough to kill, enough bullets poured into them can still kill them.
The ParaHuman (Type 2)
With the discovery of the cure , the scientist discovered that it doesn't kill the virus, but mutates it. Instead of making the infected a disease ridden killing machine, the infected becomes something better. The infected keeps their sentients as they were before the virus, as long they receive it before they go insane. They get the benefits of the virus, without most of the weaknesses. The bones won't lose any density and the muscles gain strength. They have night vision, need only three hours of sleep a day, have immunity to nearly every known disease and they don't need to drink blood, yet many choose to. While not fatal, the infected is still sensitive to UV rays. Another problem is that they are allergic to silver.
While they don't need it to survive, blood is like a drug to ParaHumans, and the side effects are just as bad. Hair becomes thin, eyes bloodshot, and the teeth and finger nails become razor sharp. After a while, the addict becomes monstrous and mutates into Type 3.
The UnHumans (Type 3)
These are the addicts of blood. They revert to a mental state of Type 1, without lossing any of the benefits of being a Type 2. Their features become monstrous. They are muscular, with random bones sticking out of the skin. Physically, they have grown a need for blood to survive. They don't need anymore blood than Type 1 Vampirism, they just get as much as they can. If they see any source of blood, Human or ParaHuman, they will attack and tear them apart. With the regressed condition, UV rays have become just as fatal to them, as it is to Type 1.

The Rules
1. No Godmoding

3. You must fill out a character sheet and write a brief description of your last job/mission and why Angerona would want to hire you. More details to come soon.
4. Please try to avoid one sentence post as much as possible. I want some good solid character building or have it add to the situation
5. If your character is saying something, use "quotation marks." If they are thinking something, use italics
6. Don't control other people's character, unless there is a situation that requires multiple people (moving a tree, for example), or you have permission
7. I don't want you guys/gals to abandon this without any warning. I understand that life happens, but you made a commitment by submitting a sheet
8. Use proper grammar and spelling. No text speak or anything like that. We aren't on a 13-year old's phone
9. While you can be romantically involved with other characters, keep all NSFW stuff out of here. Not writing a porno here
10. While I encourage you to have fun, I don't want post of distracting post that don't really add anything to your character or to the situation
11. Just use common sense and go over Escapist role playing and you [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.116378-Escapist-role-playing-and-you] and Role-playing thread guideline [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.63498-Role-playing-thread-guidelines-UPDATE-5-November-2010]
