Maybe instead of being more lenient to people with less warnings OR being more lenient to people with more warnings, we just be fair to everyone?

I also think a shorter amnesty period would be helpful. 6 months is too long.
Personally, I'd be happy if health bars actually bothered to reset any more. Mines been sat one away from a suspension for months now.
Just email EscapistAppeals@gmail.com[footnote]http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.1027789-IMPORTANT-READ-THIS-ANNOUNCEMENT-LINK-TO-NEW-APPEALS-SYSTEM-REPAIR-YOUR-HEALTH-BAR-HERE[/footnote] about reducing your health bar when the appropriate number of months has passed; they were really quick about taking care of it for me. The automated system has been broken for at least a year.

To add to this, the Mods do try to watch out for it and will apply warning removals and warning bar wipes if it is noticed (though this is generally noticed when giving an infraction out so it's kind of a back handed removal :D).

I don't know if I would 100% rely on that as it assumes that it will be noticed but for the most part, it is caught before new infractions are put against someone.

Lets get back to the topic at hand, namely a fear that the more active members of the community are, through stacked infractions, being banned for repeated CoC infractions and a sense of dwindling community interaction.

Now I do take the mods at their word that in their eyes they saw infractions. That's fine. But I think the larger conversation should be more members making more threads more often.
In your opinion, is it better to make a bunch of threads that are summarized as just an announcement by the OP, like, "guys I just got a Tesla!" And have the conversation flow out around how good such cars are, if you even are allowed to drive, the most people you've shoved in your vehicle, etc, or is it better to start with a structured topic like how Tesla cars are very niche for a lot of people and keep the discussion all on one car type?
Neither is better - both are valid. A topic beginning with announcing your new car, then asking what other users drive is a perfectly acceptable topic. Likewise discussing a single car, your example Tesla. Start with the new car announcement again, then open the floor up to anyone who has owned a Tesla and ask what they thought about it, etc.

Now some annoucement threads have more merit than others. New PCs, Cars, jobs, moved city, etc. those are big life moments and worthy of discussion. But just 'I had breakfast' or 'I walked!' I think would run the risk of mod wrath.
Here's what I'm concerned about. The average person is pretty devoid of creativity, so having a thread about what you did today if it was worthy of note is pretty easy to start. Hell, 2 months ago I made a thread bragging how I bought 40TBs of hard drives, and it turned into a page-long conversation. People respond, and others will respond to the responses.

I saw your comment and checked your record. You are correct so I removed a Warning bar.

Keep in mind that the 6 month count begins anew with every Warning. So rather than old Warnings dropping off from their original awarding after 6 months you have to go 6 months without receiving any more in order for you to have one removed.

Note: I got a couple of Low Content Warnings early on and found that out the hard way. -_-

EDIT: I wonder if removing that tidbit might be a good idea or not: Just let any and all warnings drop from their 6 month point of origin. As that would have necessitated special programming I dunno whether it would have worked even when we had a Tech Team to keep the system up and running properly.

I assume that the reason for the system being that way was so that people can't note when they get each warning, and just "float" along as a warning gets removed, and then allow themselves a chance to get a new one by having a brief moment of being a dick. Though nowadays, maybe that wouldn't be the worst change. Or just reduce it to 2-3 months and keep the old method. Either way, 6 months is quite a lot, even in the old days of the site

Much obliged.

From a sustainability point of view, it would make sense. Banning people for a handful of warnings over 5 years seems odd. But I imagine the technical implementation might be difficult to arrange in the current circumstances.

A 'User received a warning for this post' and 'User was banned for ____' need meaning. They need to be something any user can click on, and see what behaviour is unacceptable. Otherwise what is the point?
