Can't say it's untrue... Though the "help others in need" may depend on how dire the need of said other is.
I also just wanted to point out that Absol is not a bleak, pessimistic pokemon. It tries to warn others of incoming disasters, but as it fails to do so, people tend to associate its arrival with "bad things" (i.e. earthquakes and the like).
