Infamous
Ratchet and Clank. All of them
Sly Cooper collection
Uncharted 1+2

^Buy those. Like, now.
seconded to all of these.

I would also have to say that Red Dead Redemption is a brilliant game (I know it's not PS3 exclusive) and Killzone 2 and the Upcoming Killzone 3 will be awesome.
Killzone 2 is a very finicky game tho I reckon. If you have the patience to get used to the controls than you'll have a blast and the Online is awesome too, but if you don't get used to them then you'll just reject it outright.

Oh yeah and don't buy Little Big Planet. Not because it's bad, on the contrary, it's one of the best games I own, but because in the next week or so LBP 2 is coming out and EVERYTHING that was ever made in LBP 1 will be transported to the LBP 2 servers with a graphical makeover, which is epic. :D

Siren : Blood Curse - though I admit it isn't to everyone's taste.
Disgaea 3 if you like that sort of thing.
Demon's Souls
Wipeout HD
Super Stardust HD
Dead Nation - much more fun Co-op than solo.
InFamous
Uncharted 2
Wait a few months before you buy Dead Nation I reckon. It's price is too high for a game with so little replay value.
As far as PSN goes, definitely get Castle Crashers, Flower and Worms 2 Armageddon since Flower is something you just have to experience and CC and Worms 2 are probably some of the best multiplayer DLgames around on PSN.

Nothing unique here, but a li'l explaination:

MGS4, was the first I bought, and I loved it, but it's certainly not for everybody. If you weren't dieing to get it, you probably don't want it.

As far as I've seen, uncharted 2 makes the best use of the hardware for "ZOMG THIS GAME LOOKS SOOOOOO GOOD". Part of that is the more story-like aspects of the game, and crazy awesome locations allow you to really look around and drink it all in. It stands as a strong example of how much more you can get out of the ps3's processor when you custom tailor code to the ps3, instead of just switching the language around for a multi-platform release. There might be better examples of this around, but that's the best one I can think of.

Heavy Rain is quite a unique game. Probably want to look into that if you're into that sort of thing. I loved it, great story/acting etc. and I really enjoyed the whole feel of it. It's as absorbing as a good novel. It also looks perfect, but in less of a "looking across the peaks of Nepalese mountains", and more of a "yep...that's EXACTLY how an apartment looks in the rain" way.

Ratchet and Clank is simply fun. Their sense of humor is just right for me, I hope you're the same. There's jokes, innuendo's, and obscenely large ridiculous weapons that play the 1812 overture as the fill the screen with bullets, shotgun shot, and random missiles. Who doesn't enjoy that?

I also enjoyed inFamous a lot. Good fun.

Welcome to the dark side Good to see someone interested in the collection, and being the #1 alleged Sony Fanboy on the site, here's my list of exclusive games games that I've got in no particular order;

Uncharted 1 and 2
LittleBigPlanet
God of War 3
InFamous
Resistance 1 and 2
Warhawk
Valkyria Chronicles
Heavy Rain
Demon's Souls
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction + Crack in Time
Killzone 2
3D Dot Game Heroes
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

All of these are solid titles ripe for picking, and for downloadable games;

flOwer
Joe Danger
WipeoutHD and it's Fury pack
Fat Princess
SuperStardustHD

These are all exclusive if that matters, some things to note are the various collections like the Sly and God of War collections, and future games like Killzone 3, LittleBigPlanet 2, and The Last Guardian.

Hope that helps dude, feel free to ask any more questions.

Cheers for the advice, dudes, there's a lot to investigate here. I think for now I'll go straight for Heavy Rain, Little Big Planet and God of War. I'll probably look into Killzone a Resistance at some point in the future as they're my kinda thing (in a Megadeth kinda way) and I'm willing to give Uncharted a go, but I think it's be best if I play it first... I imagine the gameplay is fun, but I don't know if the themes are really my cuppa tea. Demon's Souls... Looks drokkin awesome, but I don't now if I want to have me balls stomped on repeatedly whilst trying to chill out O_O

Personally, I'd say give Heavy Rain a rent. I played the demo and hated the thing.

Most people already mentioned all the good PS3 exclusives.

I honestly can't say anything that hasn't already been said. Though personally I'd stay away from God of War. I liked the games but felt that God of War 3 was a complete let down and much too short. As for my advice on games, just repeating what others have already said.

-Uncharted 1+2
-Infamous
-Folklore (one of very few remotely decent RPGs on the system, just a bit harder to come by, it came out shortly after launch, I believe)
-Little Big Planet (2 is out very soon, just wait for that, you can play ALL the online content from the first in 2)
-Disgaea 3

I'd say Heavy Rain and Killzone but I've never played them (don't like FPS and I'm all set on a game that is nearly ALL quick time events.) Demon Soul's I've heard is crazy hard but still good. MGS4 is more like watching a movie than playing a game. I couldn't get into it, but then I've never cared for MGS really begin with. 3D Dot Game Heroes isn't a bad game, even being a blatant Zelda rip off, I just got bored quickly

PS3 is also getting a remastered port of No More Heroes called No More Heroes: Hero's Paradise. To me No More Heroes is about the only worth while Wii game ever.

The PSN has a slew of games too, including lots of old school Playstation games and Ubisoft has even recently added HD versions of the Prince Of Persia games from PS2/Xbox era. I'm sure Xbox has those too though. Wouldn't know, however, don't own one.

I got a ps3 last year after being a 360 fan. I now have both and love it. (though I use 360 more mainly for multi-platform games) Anyways theres a few games you NEED to pick up

-Infamous, my first ps3 game and probably my favorite
-Killzone 2, Second ps3 I got and its well worth it
-Resistance 1/2, I really didnt like the first one so much but I just got the second one and its amazing. And in my opinion its better than Killzone.
-Metal Gear Solid 4, Played and beat it on my bros ps3, great game and has amazing online
-Little Big Planet, Good party game and great online community to keep you coming
-God of War 1-3, You need to have these games if you own a ps3, and GoW collection is pretty cheap
-Valkryia Chronicles, Probably the most over looked game on the ps3
-Heavy Rain, It may be quick timed events the game, but a moving story and great graphics, high tense situations are why you need this
-Uncharted 1,2, Truly stunning games
