I can't believe I am search nazi-ing the staff but I did this thread months ago.
Months ago? Don't you know the internet recycles discussion threads on a near hourly basis? I wouldn't be surprised if someone did this thread yesterday :)

That said, you've at least got to tell us what your favorite adventure game was.
I was born in 91, by the time I got into gaming the Point n' click was on its deathbed.

Douglas Adams' Starship Titanic was my first point & click game. It's sort of like Myst.
It was incredible fun, but I had never read about Douglas Adams before, so I had no idea what I was playing was supposed to be as random as it was, as humor for the readers of his books.

-Friggen Parrot.

My first delight was when the Ship crashed through my house, and then a robot came and apologized for the damage, indicating there might only be a sratch of paint done to the vessel, so no worries.
The only way to actually finish that without a guide was to be Douglas Adams. Most of the puzzles had seemingly no logic to them at all...

Of course, my first encounter with a true point-and-click game was Myst, as was probably true with most gamers. Still have my copy at home with it's box. Never beat it, probably never will.

Actually the adventure game that made a bigger impact on me than Myst was The 7th Guest. The first time I saw that game I was pretty sure the future had arrived.

Myst was great.. I played a Titanic game that was myst like.. it was actually pretty cool. And leo wasn't in it yet so I didn't feel gay playing.

Did anyone else ever play The Death Gate games... yes it was a point and click adventure game based around the great fantasy books. I just got it for dos box a few weeks ago and played again its great.

Man I'm gonna go beat the Police quest games again... to many memories coming back.

Oh well; at least I've got plenty of ("new") P&C games to play over the Summer (Police Quest Collection, Space Quest Collection and Blade Runner).
Blade Runner, now that was really great one. Made by people who obviously loved the book and film and a really well designed game.

Another one that hasn't been mentioned yet is Beneath a Steel Sky. Good game that features some brilliant art work from Dave Gibbons of Watchmen fame.

The Last Express
I would love to play The Last Express. It looked awesome!

I've, of course, played the whole Myst series. Those are amazing games.

I'd really like to play Grim Fandango but I have no idea where to get a copy.

If we're counting the King's Quest games, I've played The Mask of Eternity. But it was really more of an FPS/3PS in a lot of ways. (That's King's Quest 8 by the way). I actually liked that game quite a bit, despite its incredible campiness.

There were also a few obscure ones out there. The New Adventures of the Time Machine. Jewels of the Oracle. Riddle of the Sphinx and its sequel, The Omega Stone. (Riddle of the Sphinx was incredible. Omega Stone was pretty good, too.) The list goes on.

All of the old Lucasarts adventure games are classics - Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max Hit the Road, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango.

Although I must confess something - back in the day, I didn't care about actually playing these games, only being amused by the characters and stories. So I shamelessly cheated, looking up the solutions for just about all of the puzzles. What I fool I was... I wish I could play them again fresh, having the satisfaction of figuring out the solutions myself.

I've recently been playing Dreamfall: The Longest Journey and enjoying it. There definitely needs to be a revival of the adventure game.

I have Monkey Island 3 & 4 around somewhere. From where I'm sitting, I can see my Grim Fandango CD too.

I wonder where my Sam & Max Hit the Road CD is, actually.

I really enjoyed the Discworld Point & Click game. I'm fairly sure that there was a sequel, but I've never played it.

Monkey Island was great... wished they made a Caribbean pirate movie using those story arcs instead of the ride in Disneyland. Glad they're bringing it back.

I also liked Quest For Glory since it was the first P&C game I beat without game guides. I really loved developing my character while going through the story and looking for Easter egg humor bits. The waffle from QG3 was particularly interesting.

I played a bit of the Strong Bad and Wallace and Gromit P&C from Telltale Games. They're nice, but some puzzles just bugged me trying to figure which item to rub against what.

I really enjoyed the Phoenix Wright games. (Apollo Justice=meh.) I suppose they could better be described as Point and Tap but it's the same basic concept. I don't know if Trace Memory counts but there was an lot of pointing and taping going on.

It's kind of a sequel to The Longest Journey, I think. It's kind of hard to describe - it's like a fantasy/sci-fi mix. The game starts with you in control of this girl that lives in the future, and she gets caught up in a resistance against the opressive government. I haven't got this far, but you either meet or play as some characters from the previous game, and it even jumps around into different worlds and dimensions. It's pretty well-written and the characters are interesting. You could probably pick it up cheap, for either PC or Xbox (backwards compatible with the 360).

I haven't played the prequel. Does that matter?

I love Monkey Island. Every single one of the games. I never really got into the whole point and click thing, but I have always loved Monkey Island. Really looking forward to Tales of Monkey Island too.

I've started playing the first 'The Longest Journey' for PC for the first time and as a true introduction to point and click adventure games, I'm in awe.

I'm going to try out Sam and Max and some other things that have been mentioned here next :D

Oh, sorry I forgot I played Discworld for PS1 years ago and loved it.
