No one else has mentioned Syberia and Syberia II. I guess that's not that surprising, considering that practically no one has heard of it, but it's one of the better point-and-click adventure joints that I've ever played. The script in the first game was very outstanding, too, though the second one wasn't shabby, but it's the art direction and artwork itself is what sells it.

It's a great and recent series, with the first game having been released in 2002, and the sequel released in 2004. They've even announced the third one to be coming out next year sometime, for the PC and the PS3, apparently. Definitely a recommended title for fans of the point-and-click adventure, and amazing proof that the genre isn't dead just yet.

I won't tell you how embarrassingly long it took me to disarm the bomb...

Another one that hasn't been mentioned yet is Beneath a Steel Sky. Good game that features some brilliant art work from Dave Gibbons of Watchmen fame.
...and it's now freeware.

The Dig was really good and surprisingly few people I know have played it :(
That was because it was boring.

The most awesome one I ever played is probably Sam and Max Hit the Road...

But damn, I wish I bought Dreamfall when it was still in stores.

I'm not the only one. That game was sweet, I spent more time playing the second one - but hell, they were fantastic.

I think the best memories I have with P&C are surrounding Oregon Trail, The Secret Island of Dr. Quandary, and Myst. If there weren't so many dead ends in Myst, it would be first on the list. Good storyline though.

Oh yeah, and I'm going to count Phantom Hourglass in "P&C adventure games." Because it totally is. Not for nostalgia, but on principle.

It's a shame they ruined it by making a 3D version. Oh the horror...

Monkey Island, absolutely without question. I still enjoy point-and-clickers, though. Syberia, Syberia II...absolutely brilliant, both of them. Still Life was pretty damn good, too, though somewhat clunky on the Xbox.

And Emerald City Confidential is one of the best adventure games I've ever had the pleasure of playing.

Full Throttle was my favourite adventure game of all time. Bikers, Tim Schafer's wicked humour, motorcycles, fighting, pianos, intrigue, backstabbing... mm.

Also, if you sit through the credits at the end, you get some truly hilarious biker haikus.

I bought a used copy for the Xbox, but it's not backward-compatible with the 360 -_- Shame, it looks really good. At least I only spent, like, $3 on it.

Yeah, the less said about that the better. I wish they'd make more game characters like Simon - cynical, sarcastic, funny - nowadays it's all muscle-bound, macho, 'poet warriors' with more teeth than brain cells. Still without these new characters nostalgia wouldn't mean as much.

Yay staff love for Syberia. Such an amazing series.

Also, I know it's kind of a combination between point-and-click and turn-based RPG, but Penny Arcade's On The Rain-Slick Precipice Of Darkness is also gratuitous amounts of fun. Definitely a recommended play if you like their style of humor.

There are a couple of classic series that surprisingly haven't been mentioned. First of all there's the Sierra adventures: King's Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest, Leisure Suite Larry, Indiana Jones, ... And my absolute favorite: Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist!

And then of course there's Discworld, Discworld II and Discworld Noir, those definitely deserve a place on the list.

Telltale games makes decent point and click adventures. I played through Sam and Max Seasons one and Two, and Strong Bad's Cool Games, because I happened to be a fan of Homestar Runner. Terrific athlete.

I've played Beneath a Steel Sky a while back. That's a classic. And it's free. That's a bonus too.
