my theory on life come from my understanding of Einstein's theory on time (time only exists so that everything doesn't happen at once).

we are just very complex chemistry reactions. we would not be here if it weren't for some incredibly tiny chemical reaction that seeded this planet for life. you are a product of your father who is a product of his father who is a product... everything we are is a reaction of a previous event, and everything we do is a our reactions to current events which only came to pass because of something previous.

(this is all my own opinion)

in short there is no point to life because life is an illusion created by chemical reactions in your body. we are no more alive than the very computer you are using to read this, only vastly more complex.

on the other had there is a famous quote "i think there for i am".

I like to think it isn't the point in living, but the point in dying.
And so far I have not seen a point in me dying, so I won't... yet <.<

That sounds a lot more depressing than it was supposed to.

42 apparently. Or maybe to seek purpose and enjoy said purpose?
no thats the answer to life, the universe and everything. not the point.

Alternatively, it could be 'enjoy yourself'. Simple, sweet, to the point.
fucking this. best explanation ever.
If 42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything it is also the answer to the question of "What's the point?" : D

Biologically speaking, the point of all life is to reproduce, not just so that the spieces continues, but so that the strongest of the spieces continue and strengthen the race as a whole.

But speaking from the viewpoint of a sapient organism, then my best guess is that the point of life is what you make of it. Personally, I believe the point of life is to leave this world a better place than when you entered it, or at least make a concerted effort to. But there really is no "right" answer to the meaning of life. The myriad of experiences, upbringings and viewpoints available through the human condition means that some people will agree with my viewpoint, others will think it complete and utter tosh and drivel, why yes I am English, well done for guessing.

If the meaning of life for you is to labour hard for your god, then that is the meaning of your life.
If the meaning of life for you is to push your physical abilities to the limit, that is YOUR meaning in life.
If your meaning in life is research, improve and add to the vast pantheon of human knowledge, that is your meaning in life.

At various points in your life, you may undergo life changing events or moments of epiphany that change your ultimate goal, but to re-enforce my original point, the point of your life is what YOU, and you alone, choose to make of it.

My doctrine is Viktor Frankl's Will to Meaning: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logotherapy

Basically- since life has no intrinsic meaning, everyone must learn to find meaning in what they do by trying to elevate humanity towards something worthy of the God that doesn't exist.

It is diametrically opposed to Nietzsche's Will to Power (which you've probably heard of) which states that since there's no God strong men must dominate the weak to impose their own values.

Life is inherently pointless, each individual decides what the point of their lives are.

The meaning of life is to peruse the question to it. Everyone finds their own answer to the question eventually, and some once they reach a conclusion only continue on because another has arisen. It's what you make of it...... or 42 if you prefer.

There is no point to life, or rather, to put it in less depressing terms, the point of life is whatever you decide it is.

There is no inherent point to existence. However, one can find meaning in one's own struggle for purpose, and in the struggle against human suffering.

I like to think it's enlightenment. You remember the story of The Buddha where he went into the jungle and sat under a Bodhi tree for 49 days and found the truth? That is what I'm searching for: the truth.

Well, truth and knowledge. That's my point.

There is none. But who cares?

If you want goals badly, set up your own, why should someone else's supposed "points" of whatever be carved in stone, so to speak.

the point of life is to have the best possible experience while not ruining another persons fun (as long as that person is having fun by say trolling or spawn camping)
