Damn, i've gotta set up a skype account now.Doc Gnosis said:Alright, I'm closing up applications! We're going to be starting this RP soon. I've already set up a Skype chatroom so we can speak with one another; just PM me your Skype name and I'll invite you. Plus it'll make drawing your domains on the map easier with everyone on Skype.
Player vs. player battles shall happen thusly: At the start I'll be sending all involved a brief description of the battlefield - terrain, weather conditions, etc. - as well as a list of advantages and disadvantages that your character may have. For example if you personally lead the battle, you get the advantage of your troops having a high morale - which will factor in for the results.Mr.Ivebeenframed said:Alright one more question:
What if one of us commits battle with another player? As in a full-on army vs army battle? Is there any specific rules set or posting setup for the battle or is it like any PVP?
I like the sheet. Good luck to you.ThreeWords said:I'm gonna go with my original sheet, slightly modified.
Name: Jon Shannow
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Appearance: Jon is tall and slim, and well into his prime. His hair is still dark, and his body as strong as ever, while his mind seems only to sharpen. He wears cloths of good quality but simple design, especially since his distance from the main kingdom puts him out of reach of the quickly changing fashions of the Prince's and the Royal Court.
He moves and speaks as he acts; slowly, with care to maximise efficiency and minimise waste, building up to blinding bursts of energy, achieving his objectives via sudden direct action.
Personality: Having learnt from his father, Jon is a quiet man, who seeks to cover his weaknesses before exploiting those of others, and to only take risks when he has a solid foundation. So too with his words, for he weighs up their value and effect before speaking. He is a calm man, not given to fits of rage or sadness, but equally neither of great joy, though sometimes he is known to be filled with nervous energy. Overall the effect is of a cold man. His friendship and loyalty are not easily gained, and neither are his enmity, or indeed his mercy, for when he pursues his goals he does so with a quiet, focussed ferocity and total ruthlessness.
Seeing the dark times approaching, he seeks to emulate his father, and prepare a power base from which he can survive the violence.
Position: Landlord
Background: The Shannow line have always been careful; they were not the first to leave the great castles, but when they did they selected a realm that would allow them a strong bastion against whatever the world could throw at them. The supported the Old Kind quietly in all things, and Jon's father perfected the art of choosing the best time to invest in a venture, so that maximum profit would be attained form minimum risk. Thus, Shannow the elder gained a reputation for quiet, dependable strength and a pragmatism that sprung from wisdom, not cowardice. He tried to pass this on to Jon, his son, who has in turn done his best to learn, but Jon has a good deal more restlessness than his father, and is prone to use the preparations he has built for sudden, decisive acts.
The Shannow family have no distinguished line, like those of the Princes, and are often looked down on as commoners who went into the wilderness and struck it rich. Jon has taken his image and made it his own, choosing a relatively simple life, in which he is a nearer equal to the (free) men of his realm.
Describe your domain: The Shannow family domain is that of the Southern Notch, though their land extend along the coast and the shores of Lake Mitra. The lowlands, from which the food of the province is gained, are relatively undefended; the roads are good and the towns well, but the strength of the domain is the the labyrinth of passes, fortresses and bastions that fill the Notch itself, making an assault of the Shannow's centre of power a nightmare for all but the largest, well prepared army. A number of hidden ports, and a light but agile fleet to deliver supplies makes siege almost impossible, and raiders have learnt to their cost that retaliation from the Notch is inevitable.
The land is not the most productive, but the Notch has various metal deposits, and the best artificers in the kingdom; much of the Shannow's wealth has been made by importing the raw materials from other domains, and exporting devices and artefacts of value.
Troops: Shannow's land forces are well trained and boast some of the best equipment in the Realm, but their numbers are low and they are most at use when fighting in close quarters where strength in numbers mean least; fortifications and urban environments. On the open field, his men are weak to simply being surrounded, though Jon has begun the training of an elite force of cavalry who, though still low in number, can make effective use of open spaces.
The Shannow navy consists of small, light craft, no match for more military vessels but able to outrun heavier ships. If caught in a direct fight, they will doubtless suffer terribly, but they are savvy and agile enough to avoid all but the cleverest of enemy captains.
The Notch has powerful defences; the fortresses are equipped towers to spot intruders, and catapults to give them second thoughts. Then, the walls are thick and high, and positions to take maximum advantage of the steep and harsh geography of the Notch.
The defences of the lowlands are meagre in comparison; most towns have a militia and a wall, but little in the way of a permanent garrison, and must mainly fend for themselves. These have been enough to ward off raiders in the past, but Jon fears that in the turbulent times to come, there will be threats form other authorities that the simple defences cannot endure. This is the second reason he is training his cavalry force; he desires to have a professional force which can deploy rapidly to the weaker extremities of his realm.
We're starting but if you finish quickly, we'll consider letting you in. Best wishes.JokerboyJordan said:I am planning to make a character sheet, once I muster enough effort to make one that lives up to everyone elses

Could I just get a little more info on being a Castellian?Doc Gnosis said:We're starting but if you finish quickly, we'll consider letting you in. Best wishes.JokerboyJordan said:I am planning to make a character sheet, once I muster enough effort to make one that lives up to everyone elses

In a way, you've thought a lot in terms of what a castellian is capable of. Being only a city and at the bottom end of the hierarchy, one could easily expand your influence beyond your city and into other peoples' domains. By the same token being on the lowest rung means you'll be the last to know of events discussed by the Princes and landlords; often recieved a severely edited version of what had been talked about. That and you have to follow what your Prince and landlord command. That being said, you've clearly thought about how to expand your influence.JokerboyJordan said:Name: Wilfred Abaddon
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Appearance: Of average height, lithe. With tanned, well defined features, matted dark brown and golden eyes.
He only wears the finest materials but he avoids flamboyant clothes. He wears a solid silver medallion adorned with emeralds, along with a silver ring with his state seal. His youthful looks cause many to underestimate him, which he uses this to his advantage.
Personality: An inquisitive mind, that was nurtured by his father and his tutors. He is the kind of individual who likes to send a message to his enemies. He is of some integrity, he is a man of his word and tries to do right by the people even if they do not realise it, although he does employ slave labour.
He has a excellent strategist, often consulting with the General of his army on the best course of action.
Wilfred is a man who gets things done, with minimum casualties and little compromise.
Position : Landlord
Background: The Abaddons were always of great influence throughout the Kingdom, they were Merchants, Tacticians, Alchemists, Advisers (both to Princes and the King himself). Wilfred was the only child of his father, although he shares many cousins with contacts throughout the land. He was keen to rule after his father fell in battle, his first act as ruler was to go behind enemy lines and set their camps on fire as they slept.
He knows that the way to become King is not merely through strength, but also cunning and preparation. He has stockpiled huge stores of food and weapons, ready for any upcoming battle or siege. Wilfred will do anything to be King, even if that means he has nothing to rule but ashes.
Describe your domain: Ignis Aurum Probat
The Banner of the city of Kennet, along with the House of Abaddon, is a white phoenix rising/emerging from flames, on a emerald background.
Wilfred's domain encompasses Treefell Range and the apex of the Golden edge.
The city itself is slightly south of Treefell Range. It is a maze of cobblestone and Gothic architecture, and although some parts of the city are run down, Wilfred keeps a tight grip on his people. He uses a strong military presence, coupled with some arrangements with the local Thieves Guild to keep crime at a low.
Kennet is famed for it's forges, the city houses the Kingdom's best blacksmiths and metallurgists, who work in tandem with Wilfred and his army.
The city outsources most of it's raw metal, mainly from mines like those in the northern or southern mountains.
The city's main commerce is the exportation of wood from Treefell range, which they have constructed an underground tunnel with which the transport the goods, and high quality weapons, often selling them at a profit to those who they bought the ore from. The rest of the economy is made up of various taverns, guilds and brothels. The city taxes the more illicit activities heavily.
Wilfred funds research into improving his city's armaments, including structure of metals, the design of swords, armour, war machines and cavalry. They are the first to invent and adopt new technological advancements.
The city is defended by a battalion of archers, hundreds, some say thousands, guarding the walls with deadly precision
Troops: Every able bodied man, once becoming the age of 16, is required to spend at least 2 years in active service. However the pay is decent enough that the majority stay on. Wilfred can call for conscription if necessary.
The Army of Kennet is renowned for it's archers and projectile warfare.
The archers are all trained to be excellent marksmen. Although they are able to fire in unison, they use a staggered formation, the first row fires, then the second row, then the third. This gives a continuous barrage of arrows from which there is little escape. The use of flame arrows adds more versatility.
Catapults are also widely implemented, both in battle and in siege warfare.
The army use pikemen to stop the rest of the infantry and cavalry, they too work in synchronisation, forming deadly walls of spikes. They are supplemented by the long bowmen in a formation known as "Pike and Shot"
Then there is the elite Ashguard, they are Wilfred's alone to command, they protect him and can be deployed on the battlefield as cavalry, their black armour makes them a fearsome sight as the charge towards an enemy.
Sul'giat has hold over most of Lake Mitra, including the southeastern shores. Mons Caelos only has control over the lake's northern shores; the map describes the borders with Sul'giat in the Southeast, and Mons Caelos in the north. You'll need to amend the location before I can accept you.The Clown said:Here is my first draft please critique as necessary, and skype stuffz would be nice, I've heard you have one.
Name: Harmellian Lord of the Lake.
Age:34
Gender: Male
Appearance: Sleek and toned, straight black hair hidden tucked underneath his crimson leather hood and the muscle of a soldier hidden under loose silk. He stands short but holds himself high, although years of espionage and desk-work has left him with a slight tendency to hunch. He is most usually garbed in fine crimson leather with a silk tunic underlying the pads. Quiet boots, light step and daggers in most every nook.
Position (Prince, landlord, or castellian): Castellian
Background/personality: He was raised in the very castle he now has dominion over, acting as an assassin and spy for the current leader, although work for princes and the occasional landlord was not unheard of. In one violent coup Harmellian and two comrades took leadership, short after the two were found belly up in the lake. He has always been quiet, seemingly timid and puny, perhaps the reason he pushed himself into the role so many others mocked him for believing he could achieve, and also perhaps his foes tend to underestimate him. He never knew his parents, his first memories were of cold waters and the reassuring steel of a blade. From his childhood he remembers no family, warmth, or kindness. Instead only the clink of stolen gold and the security of a wall at his back. Only the swiftness of his arm and the slight of his step kept him alive, making a living as a common rogue, although soon enough his skill got him unwanted attention, other assassins were sent to remove him, their bodies were found in alleyways, a blade stolen from each one.
Nowadays he acts as leader of the Lake and the castle built to the south east of Lake Mitra.
Still not one for paperwork he spends most of his time under the servitude of the various princes who seek his prowess and is barely seen by his subjects only feared.
Describe your domain (King's Range is taken):Harmellian's castle sits at the south-eastern edge of Lake Mitra and he has leadership of it and the lake along with a small portion of the land further south-east from the castle where a few sparse farms lie.
That works, welcome aboard. I'll need your skype account name so I can add you to the chatroom. The Clown said:Here is my first draft please critique as necessary, and skype stuffz would be nice, I've heard you have one.
