The first thing I thought about when hearing "Skyrim" was floating rectums.

I hope there's floating rectums.
/)^3^(\ another person who thinks this! yay!
Three of us. I thought I was the only one. No but seriously, we have sick minds.

OT: This is the first time I've heard anyone pronounce it Scrim or Skii-rim. I figured it was Sky-rim the very first time I saw the word. So I didn't even have to think twice when I saw mountainous terrain.

Also, isn't it pronounced in the trailer?

I don't mind the misinterpretation... but to think that "Skirim" (like Ski rim) sounds better then Sky rim?
Well "Skirim" is at least somewhat understandable, given that some people do confuse Y and I in pronounciation, but "Scrim" really is weird ...
I am not really awake, but ... do we actually have *any* word with a silent Y?
Could be skirim. And the letter "y" can be used to make an "i" sound. E.g. cynical
Yup, that's what I said. "Skirim" is just fine, I've seen people misuse both Y and I, exactly for the reason of both being used in crossover. Funny example you bring, since I actually had a discussion about the pronounciation of "cynical" once ...
Still no answer on my question either ... Do we have *any* word with an actually *silent* Y?

Most of you are idiots trying to sound smart by belittling someone pronouncing a fantasy made word incorrectly. You are all the losers today. Try again tomorrowind.
^TeHehe
You don't want people telling you that you are wrong, then you probably don't belong on the internet. You have not given any precedent that would allow you to pronounce a word with a silent y between two consonant. Also "Meelee" is an acceptable mispronunciation of melee because because that is how it reads without the accent, however it is a French word "mêlée" which means it is pronounced "May-Lay"

Bye, sounds like Bi
But the "y" still isn't silent it just sounds like an "i"

EDIT: just like how "sky" in Skyrim has the same sound as bi or bye

This confusion is, "silent" was a terrible word to use. Fact is, what i meant was SkYrim could sound like ScIrim. Because of what you just said. Y sounds like I sometimes.

... "Scrim", you said, nonetheless. And that was my reference.

Given that you now pretend to have meant "Skirim", which sounds perfectly understandable, leads to the conclusion that this is a troll thread ... Or even a badgewhoring thread ...
So ... I'm dropping out.
