no this is not a hate thread, this is an opinion thread.
Here's why I'm saying that the PS3 has died:

Last week I got bored and started playing a PSOne game on it. My other games are lying on the ground dusty (with the possible exception of LittleBigPlanet) and the actual console is starting to die out on me. Here's the problem: the production times for a top-of-the line PS3 game is absolutely unhealthy and has destroyed some of my favorite series (see Ratchet and Clank).

The only thing that purchasing Fallout 3 has done is made me realize that sometimes graphics are a good sacrifice for things like storyline and immersion, and yeah, maybe it would be realistic to need to mend your wounds with actual surgical tape, but I still think that the game is better off with stimpaks. But even better is the fact that I ended up buying Fallout 3 for the PC of all things and the graphics are BETTER? thus riding out the only reason why I wanted the PS3 in the first place.

So here is my conclusion: I will probably never, ever buy a sony console again nor any of the games until good reviews start pouring out of the nearest valve (hint hint). Unless perhaps a godlike entity comes into my home and releases God of War and Bioshock 2 right now, I see no reason for me to.

Now why would I make a thread for this? As a former Playstation fan, I will fight against the stupidity *hands rifles to resistance* and fight other fanboys to death.

I'll get the coffin and notify all the other consoles for the funeral. I hope they don't take the news too hard, especially Xbox, he and PS3 had differences but deep down they were friends... it's gotta hurt that he'll never get to resolve that with Playstation now.

Have you played Killzone 2? MGS4? Valkyria Chronicles? inFamous? Resistance 2(multiplayer is meh, but singleplayer is great)?

Incindently, despite having problems, like all the gaming platforms atm I might add. The console is by far from dead. It's got some great exclusives on the way. And great ones already on it.

And for the record, I'm a PC fanboy.

It gets the same multiplatform releases as the 360, and it has it's own nice set of First Party Exclusives that have a nice, high gloss appeal to most of them.

Besides, InFamous rocks the show...

How has it killed Ratchet and Clank their latest games have been amazing and a heck of a lot of fun (to me at least).

If you wanted any gaming system just for the graphics I feel sorry for you. Computers will always outdo the graphics of a game console sooner or later.

If you are waiting on buying games just based on reviews then I can see why you would have trouble finding games to play you like. Seriously hit up blockbuster or other rental store and make your own decisions reviews are just helpers not deciders. All the reviews say GTA 4 was the greatest thing ever but I absolutely hated it.

This thread is just flame bait. The title explains that in itself.

So, your point is "PS3 has died" because you can play a game that looks better on the PC?

If that is you case, come back in a couple of years... you know, when newly released games are available for the PS3 and the 360, and you need a new video card and a couple extra GB of RAM to run it properly.

The reason why I stop caring about PC gaming and get more into consoles is because I grew tired of changing my processor, video card, motherboard, hard drive, etc, etc, etc every couple years...

There are some nice exclusive games for the PS3, but I think sooner or later the thread poster will become a retro player like I have become. The PS2 simply has a higher value when it comes to quality games.
Yes, the PS2 is older, but how long am I supposed to stare at the PS3 before a game comes out?

The PS3 is in trouble for a few reasons.

As a big PS2 fan, I loved playing the massive amount of games. It wasn't until I visited a friend in Michigan and saw the graphics of the Xbox360 (on the game GTA 4) that I decided to upgrade my gaming machine. The first machine I looked at when I got home was the PS3, it looked awesome. Many people told me it was the better device, because the Xbox suffered from the "RROD". However it cost about $800+ with tax. Way too much. Then I realized how many games were out for it compared to the Xbox360. But really what made me decide to buy it is the reason alot of other people buy it.....their friends have it. When given the option of buying a system that I can play online with my friends or one I can't play online with my friends, I'm going for the one where I can.

The low sales of the PS3 don't only hurt the company, it hurts even the people who want to play the system online with friends. Most people have an Xbox360 and plenty are happy enough with that machine, that means that the likelihood of your friend having a PS3 is a bit rarer.


So yeah, sorry for the blather. But basically I bought the Xbox because my friends own one, there are more games, and it's much cheaper.


P.S. People who give me statistics of how much it costs per month on xbox live just shut it already. It's cheaper to buy a car with a sackful of money, but we all can't afford to do such...sometimes it's more reasonable to make monthly payments.

haha, yes you -could- say the PS3 is dying, but the PS3 is no more dead than the WII...by far the bigest waste of money on the gaming market right now. plus you can pick up some very nice PS3 games dead cheep now. im not sure how the xbox is gonig right now, since mine RROD'd, however halo wars was the last big xbox game I remember.

RTG meaning "Rose Tinted Glasses". The RTGFanboy can never accept that any game made less than two generations ago is worth playing, because they aren't. They should have stopped making games after the original Halo. Better yet, DOOM. Better still, Pong! In fact, Games should never have existed! Everyone knows games were far better when we were only imagining being able to play an interactive game via a TV and some form of control interface!

Have fun playing with sticks, RTGFanboy. We all love 7th Generation gaming, and we'll love up right up until Generation 8.

But on the bright side, by Generation 19 or so the PS3 will be cool again, and you'll finally be able to play the games you wanted to play for the past thirty years without making yourself look like a hypocritical douchebag!
