So yeah, I'm craving some fun multiplayer action - on the pc.

I downloaded the demo for ARMA II today, and while I applaud it for it's realism and uniqueness, I couldn't really get into it.

I'm kind of at a loss here. I want to say COD 4, but the COD multiplayer always makes me cry a little. Because you're basically playing solo along with a whole lot of other guys also playing solo.
So, obviously, my search ended upon Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I don't know what to think about it. Is it a COD-clone? Is the multiplayer good? Should I get it? Help me out here.

What I'm really trying to ask is: what military-themed shooter do YOU think has the best multiplayer?

Was about to say ArmA II, but.....

Well, you should try the upcoming Medal of Honor. It will have a open beta next week, but you can already download the game from their website

ArmA II. Really, Domination is my favorite online gamemode ever. Well, after Capture The Island from Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis.....

EDIT: Actually, best multiplayer is in ArmA II Operation Arrowhead. Thank you

Operation Flashpoint, Battlefield Bad Company and ArmA are all good multiplayer games, but i personaly think BFBC2 is the best of the lot.
Try that.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
i really liked bad company 2 since its more tactical then an arcade type shooter like cod 4, and bullet travel times are neat but take some getting used too, but I love the ability to blow up the buildings that snipers traditionally enjoy hiding out

Should say that the demo only had single player. So it's hard for me to judge about the multiplayer.

BFBC2 is great for multiplayer because it has a much stronger focus on squad-based actions, not to mention the whole destructible environment just makes it that much better.

There's little you can do along the lines of modern warfare, it's all the same guns and roughly the same balances. So what's important is environment, physics, server sizes and map editing capacity. I just got more of a larger battlefield feeling with BFBC2 than CoD but.. playing BFBC2 without friends is horrible whereas CoD isn't.

Were did you download the demo? Because I remember been able to play online on the demo. I got it from Steam.

But to be honest, the online in the demo is horrible. My ping is usually around 2000 there, but when I play the full version I have around 60-200

I'd recommend Bad Company 2 unreservedly.

Its not hardly as rage-inducing as the CoD games, it has vehicles, huge maps, an extensive range of guns and upgrades, and is a beautiful game to top it all off.

Get some mates together, form a squad, and I promise you will not be disappoint.

BF is the correct decision. If you're on PC (I assume you are since you mentioned ArmA) they BF2 could work too.

You're right, I just played it again and discovered that there was online. Must have been soaked up in all the single player missions. :p

Did not have the same problem as you, what with the ping, even though everything went to hell anyway when the helicopter pilot crashed into a building.

Well, I guess my internet just sucks then :)

Sounds like you were having fun there... Ahh, you know what? If you want memorable moments online, get ArmA II. I've been having those a lot.

Like this one time when me and 4 other guys were patroling during the night without weapons and nightvision googles.... or the time when one guy killed about 7 enemies with a single pistol bullet :D
