Question: you want to expand, no? Does it have to be completely outside of metal? Or can I suggest some swingy, orchestral, opera-styled metal?

Not sure if you have already, but do yourself a favour and run down to your record shoppe and pick up Daft Punk's Discovery album, it converted me to electronica instantly, and about 6 months ago I was in a similar position to you.

You forgot one of my favorite Gorillz tracks D:

I'm actually not too fond of that song, it's not bad but it doesn't really feel like it's the Gorillaz thing, which is the same problem I had with Sweepstakes...<.<

Of course you can! Even that sounds pretty new to me, so your suggestions are welcome!

Damn, there sure are a lot of replys. Buy as I promised, I'll listen them all in time.

i f orgot where my shift key is and i'm not gonna look so bear with me please.
i'm just gonna go ahead and recommend what i always do. forgive durden: razia's shadow.
it's a musical. like, an alternative band type musical thing. if you really wanna broaden your horizons, look into it. it's one of the most amazing things ever. really. i don't have the strength to get you a video. just look up the first song: genesis. if you hate it, then you are either inhuman or deaf or you and i just have different tastes in music so whatevr.
also: neutral milk hotel, but that may be pushing it if all you listened to was rock and metal. neo-psychedelia fuzzfolk is sexy, but tough to digest if you aren't an openminded listerner.
there are more things out there but it;s just that my keyboard's starting to look like waterpeople so im gonna start winding down and going to bed.

You like metal? Let's start with something similar to what you listen to already...

Now, string quartet tribute to Metallica. The original song is "One"

And another from the same group. Tribute to Guns & Roses. "Sweet Child o' Mine."

Not sure if you're open to what I like to call "Epic Metal", but this might be worth a look. This is essentially a space opera.

If you want more from my list, give me a quote and I'll drop off some more.

Thanks guys, I'll especially try that Gaslight again later on, and maybe that Elliot Smith dude too.

Edit: Oh and by the way, the guy who posted above me, I got every single Metallica song already. It's pretty much the ABC of the whole metal genre, even though it started off as trash metal =D

OP, you are going to get so much different stuff if you ever request something like this on The Escapist. Try not to get overwhelmed with music, or you'll run out of oxygen pretty quickly.

That being said:

Why did I leave J.S. Bach out of the Baroque list? Because we all know he's awesome already.

Gorillaz eh?

Oh, and the Lupe Fiasco freestyles on Gorillaz beats. This is a collection video, but you can download the mixtape from wherever or listen to the individual tracks on YouTube.

Shihad are good if you can ignore the cheeseball pop stuff. Honestly they change genres so much it's hard to keep track. Their hard rock and metal stuff is good.
