No its from an old anime series called robotech. (now before you say anything about my aformentioned comment about anime, let me remind you that this was before gundam (actually I like the very first series, but aster that they were crap) and dragonball z and all that rubbish. Back before every guy was trying to shack up with his half sister and everybody was a super powered fighting master. Basically it is to anime what transformers is to regular cartoons: EPIC PWNGE!!

Because Robotech was really the only anime I ever got into. It had a lot more subtle aspects to it than anything that rolls around these days and quite frankly it was (and still is) an original story. I find stuff these days to all be very similar to each other and it all gets boring. Like DBZ: Main character fights guy, almost loses and then goes and gets beefed up, fights guy again and wins. Then the earth is safe, except it isnt because the next, supposedly all powerful baddie has apparently been waiting out in the lobby....
