It seems you don't know my character all that well either. In Daman's mind, he was offered a contract - though not in a literal sense, of course - and he accepted. With the destruction of Chicane, and presumably the suit of Diamonds, who approached him, the contract is terminated. Daman now has no further reason to be on this plane.
That was by way of being sarcasm on my part.

It looks like option C is pretty much unanimously preferred. I'll still wait for the other responses, as many as a day can generate, but I'll start drafting for a Ratings War VII.

Two Questions

1) Are you guys fine with me using the Dimensional Deathmatch setting, or would you prefer something a bit weightier? I personally think there's been too much depth in a few of the last Ratings War plots, and would like to take things back to the simple 'It's a Tournament' style of the very first Ratings War. Albeit this time with a far more Sci-Fi backdrop.

2) Thoughts on a Double Elimination Bracket format? That means, basically, that as people lose they will form a second, sudden death bracket. The winner of this 'undead' contest will face the 'undefeated' champion. This means that each player will, by default, get two games *guaranteed* and still has a shot at victory if defeated. In effect, every player has two lives. You can google the format for a much better description than this one.

1) Honestly the character I have in mind lends itself to something less weighty. And, anyway, I find the Dimensional Deathmatch universe quite charming. I'm perfectly happy to see where you take it.

2) Seems quite correct to me.

1) Dimensional Deathmatch sounds fine to me.

2) Sounds exciting, we should most definitely do this

You think mere spiders could take me down? I find your lack of faith disturbing. I've fought the spiders that Ultrajoe personally trained and weaponised. They still didn't live up to a good pair of boots and a stolen flamethrower.

As for Escapisms, well, I've fallen out of the habit. Last one was 2011 and a whole lot of people didn't show so I wound up significantly out of pocket and rather annoyed. I wasn't planning to do any more at this point in time. If you visit I might but this time I won't be picking anything that I have to book ahead for. Internet, why you so unreliable?

Should you find yourself over here in 6 months, I'll have to introduce you to the local wildlife.

Speaking of which, Joe, mind if I join in your omnidimentional TV romp?

What kinda half-rate dark wizard society is this!?
One that doesn't give into social pressures of being evil from all the other necromancer guilds throughout the combined dimensional planes. :p

1)I say it looks good. Plenty of ideas to work with as with an standard prize at the end death match.

2)Now I personally like this idea. I didn't like how one bad mismatch at the start would knock out a skilled writer at the very beginning. Khedive Rex vs. Baldrek made me sad to see. Both were good writers and could have benefited from moving on to the next round without a limit. However one had to fall and was out which I didn't like at all. It also doesn't help that I feel as though Baldrek should have won the match, but that's a personal opinion and in the end doesn't even matter anymore.

I'm happy with the suggestions for both 1 and 2.

Also, chances are I'll come up with a new character for RW7. It's been far too long since I used James and there were a few bits I didn't like anyway.

I'm glad to hear this is going to be starting up again! I'll be participating regardless of how we go about doing it, but since the majority of people seem to be for option C I'll vote for that as well.

1) I like the Dimensional Deathmatch idea. It's a bit disappointing that we'll probably never find out how Krunk's plot would have turned out though. Also, I'll probably end up writing a different character that's more suited for your idea.

2) I wholeheartedly support the double elimination bracket.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to confirm that for reasons I mentioned on the previous page, I won't be able to rejoin this when it begins again. For that reason I won't vote but I will point out that it's imperative that a resurrected RW has a way of dealing with dropped-out players and reaches an even number of remaining players, perhaps having to recruit more. Because of that, perhaps a new RW might be the best idea.

A1) At this point, I'm not qualified to answer that question. Mostly due to not feeling any sense of ambivalence towards either. You'd pretty much have to hold me at gunpoint to wrench that kind of answer from me.

A2) Sure, why not? I could use the saving grace.

So I just read all of that and well? Ultrajoe, if I wasn't sure before, I love you. I think you've been wanting to run one of these things for a while anyway.

Sorry guys, but I kind of moved on from The Escapist. It wasn't any conscious decision on my part, just a kind of blur in my head that got drowned out by coursework, job and social life. If I had realised before a few months in, I would have announced that the game was dead. But after I kind of went 'Hey, remember that Ratings War you were running? What happened to that?' it was already February so I figured everyone else had kind of moved on too.

Also, I kind of got a better idea for Aces High. The idea of anachronistic fantasy and the Four Magics was too impossible for me to resist experimenting with, and I kind of got bored of the concept I had going on here.

Yeah. I handled this particular iteration really poorly. And if it means anything to anyone at this stage, I'm sorry.

@Ultrajoe , you have my go ahead. Not that you'd ever need it in the first place.

That said, if you'd still have me as a contestant I would love to try my hand one more time here. It was a lot more fun when I wasn't running the show anyway.

Also:

1) Yes. I love your storytelling but I think 7 does need to be geared back a bit. I realised that writing too much for an underlying premise so simple backs you into a wall somewhat, and I jumped right into the deep end with Aces High.

2) Hell, if you can do it better than me (i.e. do it at all) that sounds like an awesome plan.

Ha! This seems interesting, actually. I'll participate if I can, but I can't make any promises.

You have the wrong thread. This is the one you're looking for.

Side Note: Forgive me if I sound offensive here, but I don't know any other way to word it: I fail to understand how people end up posting in older threads when there is a new one up and running.

I think it sources from the sifting through of past pages of the index to find 'alternative' threads that are 'non-mainstream'.
