Anybody paying attention to the lone figure walking across the hillside would assume they didn't have a care in the world. Slowly moving one foot in front of the other they strolled at a leisurely pace, a sniper rifle cradled in their arms. What a passer-by would not have noticed was that the persons head was slowly moving side to side surveying their surroundings. Their sharp eyes keenly watching for any signs of life.
Alice was not in a hurry. She was, as far she was aware, in the middle of nowhere. She hadn't seen another human in weeks, not since her near brush of death at the hands of those... creatures. She shuddered slightly at the thought of it.
I thought' I'd seen everything there was to see in the wasteland, but those things quickly proved me wrong. I don't know what did that to them, but those robotic parts sure as hell didn't attach themselves.
She frowned slightly as she considered how exactly such things could be created. Although with her eyes covered by a pair of dark sunglasses, the lower part of her face with a scarf wrapped around it, and her wide brimmed hat pulled low, no sign of ill ease could be gleaned from her behaviour.
The first sound she heard that day was the mechanical hum of what sounded like gunfire. This was immediately followed by a light brush of air that swirled her hair, scarf and duster around her. As the sound grew closer she turned around at looked up.
Ah, a Vertibird. That sound did seem a little rhythmic. It doesn't look like they are heading this way, but it doesn't mean they won't change their mind if they spot me.
Alice decided she was better off avoiding unnecessary attention and slipped behind a nearby boulder. She cautiously raised her rifle into position and peered down the scope. Tracking the Vertibird to where it appeared to have landed, she saw a small group of people get out around half a mile away. She could quite clearly make out their features, and raised her eyebrows in surprise. They were certainly not regular looking people, but at the same time they had no clear affiliation with any group. Their clothing and appearance was such a mixture she'd have normally thought they were raiders.
But what kind of raiders have access to a Vertibird? Not even the NCR had many, so how on earth could these people have one?
She chewed on her lip thoughtfully, as she decided whether it was worth following them from a distance or to simply start walking in a different direction.
