The reason Modern Warfare 2 is so damn popular.

According to Yahtzee, if you're an organic lifeform on the planet earth, you already own 2.8 copies of Modern Warfare 2. But as we all know, this game is actually nothing new or original. Good graphics, but that's about all that seperates it. Why is it so damn popular?

It seems the entire reason is to have the most annoying kills ever. That's why claymores, sniping and n00btubing exists. There's almost no straightforeward shooting, when they get the chance.

The game is so stunningly popular because annoying people is so damn fun.
That's my theory, anyways. Discuss?

OT: Well... I've never played MW2 myself, but I've always assumed it was popular because some people enjoyed the gameplay, or story, or both. And I somewhat object to your wording - OMG IT ISN'T NEW OR ORIGINAL, THIS EXCLUDES IT FROM BEING FUN!

The game doesn't sound like my kind of thing, but I'm not going to dismiss it or its fans as only liking it because they want to irritate people.

Smooth controls

60FPS

The game engine and visuals

The one good game you get during a night that keeps you going through the bullshit

Fast, fluid gameplay

Customisation

I thought it was popular because its the sequel to the awesome that was CoD:4.

The first Modern Warfare was almost a perfect game. Everyone loved it and thought MW2 would be just as awesome.

Modern Warfare 2 is a sequel to a game that sold millions of copies and it was advertised aggressively and successfully. That and the fact that despite it's flaws, there is some good gameplay in there, is the reason it's so popular.

"Overrated" does not equal "not fun".

Would I agree that Modern Warfare 2 is overrated? Yeah, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun. And annoying the piss out of people IS fun. Therefore, Modern Warfare 2 is fun.

All this from a guy who doesn't even own a single copy, let alone 2.7.

I just started a thread about that actually, fun is fun.

OT: I thought it was a pretty fun game. The campaign was short, and made little to no sense between explosions, but if you looked at it one mission at a time, it was a good time. The spec ops kept me entertained with friends, and multiplayer was usually pretty entertaining. On top of that it ran silky smooth and looked great. Best game ever made? Not a chance. Solid and a definite good time (before all the glitching began)? Absolutely.

iv wondered this too my boyfriend has the games the map pack etc. Im like your paying 60 dollars to do the same thing you were doing before, same game differnt name to me.

Right. To clarify.
I don't like the game.
I don't find it fun, or original.
Games can be unoriginal and great, like Pokemon or any Zelda game ever.
I just think MW2 is both unoriginal, unfun and bland.
