The reason why Xbox live should never be free!

The reason Xbox live should never be free is because of the cheap people and the down-right stupid people. If Xbox Live was made free millions of people would flood servers with the worst, laggiest internet connections known to mankind (and Peter Molyneux)! It would be the worst video game crisis since Wii music! It would be absolutely horrific! So I'm fine with paying monthly to have fun with friends that have Comcast and not Crapcast. Do you think Xbox live should be free after reading this?

I'm not poking fun at poor people I'm just saying if you can't pay the fee then don't get XBL and if you have a bad internet connection and play on the PSN your probably the reason I made this thread.

Yeah, that is a good point. Paying for Live limits the amount of traffic and can also provide higher quality of the servers.

Well XBL IS free, it's just that to PLAY online you have to pay. However, paying for online service doesn't stop people with bad connections from playing. I'm getting tired of all the disconnections due to bad connections on COD4...

Yeah, I kinda agree with your point but not with the way you put it forward... I get the feeling you are basically saying "F*CK THE POOR! I DONT WANNA PLAY WITH THEM!", how do you know that someone doesnt have an awesome connection but because of their expensive connection cant get LIVE? I have some friends who have really crappy internutz and yet still have LIVE and love to slow down my games, I dont tell them to get off of LIVE though because no one wants them here. I just say "Wow, awfully laggy... anything you can do about that?", and that is all.

Really, you act as thoug only cheap people and reasonable people have bad internet connection. It is the worst kind of elitism because all of this has most likely been spoon fed to you by the company you are wasting your money on. I am positive there are plenty of people who have shit internet and pay for LIVE. There are always going to be people with bad internet. Your entire arguement is summed up as "Hurr only poor people have bad internet and poor people don't have no moneys to pay for LIVE. That mean LIVE must never be free! Do I get cookie nao?"

I think LIVE thrives on stupidity.
When they tried charging for the PC version of LIVE, players were smart enough to say "no" to a service that they could get free elsewhere and so M$ just ended up making it a free service.

So your saying is that people, by your standard, are people who don't care about their lives, rich enough to buy 360 xbox 360s and have enough to buy a small country, they are snobs, and dickheads to normal people of society and expected to be treated like one of the normal people.

Because you use "cheap" very loosely. Cheap people wait to see if it's good. They would never support a whole lemon company. So they wouldn't waste $500 in the first year. $1000 the next and then realize, it's bad!, after $2000 dollars worth of stolen money.

And XBL is a game? I never knew! Looks like a hit new mmorpg! Which is overpriced and over-hyped.

So yes i should think that XBL should be free to help todays normal people have fun from boring everyday lives. (not like smart people would flood XBL)

Basically, this. I'm on Killzone 2 as we speak. What's this?! No lag whatsoever? Free service!? Blasphemy!

Team Fortress 2 and L4D have been working fine for me for a while. Free service as well.
Perhaps you should rethink the argument?

Funny how PC games for the last 5~ years haven't had any real problems with slow internet connections.
Yes, there will always be someone with a 200ms ping but he won't slow down the whole server like he or she would have six or seven years ago.
