List games that are the reason you still have your older systems (Game Boy Colour, GameCube, M64, SNES, NES, PS2, PS1, and Xbox) simply because the arn't backwards compatible (or don't do it well)

for me it'd be Phantasy Star Episodes 1&2 Online for the GameCube. if you play it on a Wii it can easily corrupt your savedata. making it a bad idea to do so. that's the only old system i own though.

EDIT: I meant it to be more of a discussion about what games arn't remade or arn't BC with the newer systems that are SO good that you keep your older system just to play them. but it seems to have migrated to "what old systems do you have and why?" which was not my intention. i wouldn't list remade games (Disgaea's 1&2 for the PS2, and LOZ Link To The Past for the SNES, for example have both been remade on newer systems [DS/PSP. and GBA] though Link to the Past would still probably count because the newer DS's after the Lite version cannot play GBA games) just something i was noticing, thanks.

Steel Battalion, shit will never play on the 360 without doing some modifications to the controller and the 360. I also still have an N64, reasons should be fairly obvious. The rest of my old systems are simply for convenience, if someone wants to play an older game the system is hooked up to my second TV.

N64 - I still replay Ocarina of Time on a regular basis, and my friends and I still enjoy playing the original Super Smash and Mario Kart from time to time.

I have a GBA because I never can remember to sell it and just play Sonic Advance and Anniversary on my DS.

My PS2, though, is another story. I fucking LOVE my PS2, I've got all the Ape Escape games the States can handle, Road Trip, and Yu-Gi-Oh: Duelist of the Roses on that system and I don't plan on giving them up.

I keep pretty much everything. I could probably rattle off a story to do with any item you'd care to mention. I sometimes go back and play them, but I mostly keep them for the memories.

Still got my ps2 to play my 200+ games for it.
Mostly kept it because of the Legacy of Kain games.

Them and Final Fantasy X-2 :)

Bring it, Haters.

I still have my PlayStation even though I can play my PlayStation games on PlayStation 3, I still kept my old one, mostly for my cracked version of Sheep, Dog and Wolf which I still love and still can't get past...>_>
I also couldn't ever give up my old Spyro games and Final Fantasy VII :D Best thing ever. And I'm not sure if PlayStation 2 is classified as 'old' yet, but I still play it fairly often for Kingdom Hearts.

Turok 2 for the N64. Best game ever.
Haha I agree. So many people mock me for liking Turok 2 more than I liked Goldeneye for N64 but I do! (goldeneye is sill awesome though.)

For me...well I've never sold any of my games since I was 5 and I got an NES for christmas. I'm now 25 and have WAAAAY too many games and even some older games I've bought later on in life that I didn't have when I was young such as an Atari 2600, C64, ColecoVision, Sega CD, etc...

So far I've owned almost every major system (other than the Wii) and my collection will probably only keep on growing. So basically I keep all my systems for all of my games. Who knows when I may want to play them and with how much money you get for used games (nothing) it's just worth it to me to keep them.

Just can't part with them and I doubt I ever will.

It's odd that when getting games on PC though I've switched to almost 100% Steam (other than blizzard games obviously). With my love for collecting physical games I'm surprised I was able to make the switch but I have. But who am I kidding. I get almost as much pleasure seeing a list of my steam games as i do viewing my closet full of games. They may just be bits and bytes but they are MY bits and bytes. =)

My 64: I have Earthworm Jim because he is the best hero ever
Turok I can't remember which because the cover is messed up
some Japanese game with bug aliens and puzzles
Pokemon Stadium

PS2: Crash Bandcoot (PS as well)
FF Dirge of Ceberus
Kingdom Hearts 2

PC: Full Throttle

Gameboy: Pokemon Fire Red.

Why? Because these games where awesome and sometimes I need a break from the bleak grey scale FPS.

For my NES: Duckhunt, Final Fantasy, and Super Mario Bros. 3.
For my N64: Paper Mario, Super Mario 64, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
For my Game Cube: Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Metroid Prime.

Every one of those games I view as one of my favorites, and I just plain couldn't do without them.

N64 because it's basically my entire childhood, and it still works, I couldn't possibly part with it.
GBA because, I found it again.
DS Phat (original DS) because my GBA is broken.
Gamecube because I thought the Wii wouldn't be backwards compatible and I know the Wii U won't be. Plus it's a lot more portable than the Wii, should I ever want to play Cube games at a friend or relatives house.
PS2 because the PS3 is not backwards compatible (Major screw up on your part, Sony.)

Xbox: Knights of the Old Republic has some audio issues on the 360. Also, I can't get Painkiller to play on the 360.

Gamecube: It was better than the Wii. I gave the Wii an honest try but I've had more fun with a Gamecube. Hell, I got the Gamecube after the Wii so that entry may not even count.

DS lite: I was surprised to see that I could play JUMP! Ultimate Stars on my 3DS but I wasn't surprised when my Japanese Pokemon White wouldn't work on it. I also like to keep more than one DS for Pokemon trading.

SNES: Mystical Ninja, Link to the Past, Mario Kart, Final Fantasy III (VI), Primal Rage and...well, more reasons to come next time I check out Play-N-Trade and/or Amazon

Nintendo 64: I can't remember the subtitle of the Kirby game I have on it...other than that Majora's Mask, Banjo-Tooie, Pokemon Snap (admittedly though, I beat it in a day), Pokemon Puzzle League and, more to come next time I check out Play-N-Trade and/or Amazon

I plan on getting other old consoles I missed out on like the Genesis and it's attachments (since mine was a Nintendo household...and a poor one at that). I have a lot of classic games to catch up on.

Kingdom Hearts for PS2 and Pokemon for my GBC. But I don't see why you would get rid of an old system. Even if it just sits there I would rather keep it. Considering the alternative is selling it and getting barely anything for it. Not like they take up much room.

X-Box: I have some games that the 360 is not compatible with. *looks at Riddick*
PS2: See above, but replace 360 with PS3 and "some" with "all".
Gamecube: Too lazy to sell, and one of my memory cards will try to reformat itself if used with the Wii. Go figure.
N64: Don't want to spend money purchasing games on the virtual console that I already own.

Those are pretty much all my reasons.

I still keep my old PS1 hooked up just so I can play the original Grandia whenever I want. Yup, I have exactly one PS1 game that doesn't work A-OK on the PS2, and it's my all-time favourite.

And I still keep my PS2 around because of too many excellent games to list here. Also because the jerks at Sony quit making the PS3 backwards compatible before I could afford to buy one.

I clearly remember still playing Turok 2, even after I got the PS2 and to take off that bad taste that Turok Evolution left in my mouth, it just felt like lightyears of difference between those games, everything in Turok 2 felt much more polished and well thought compared to Turok Evolution...

I still remember the first time I used the Cerebral Bore with a velociraptor (using the BEWAREOBLIVIONISATHAND cheat), the animations were amazing for that time and not to mention the brutality of that scene alone, accompanied by a headless lizard still moving and rolling around, like a headless chicken.

Ah, the memories, too bad I don't have an N64 with me anymore ='(

Actually I haven't had a problem with BC. I'm, keeping ym old systems for sentimental reasons (and to sell if they are valuable in 30 years).

Games aren't the reason I keep my old N64, incredulity that it still functions is.

At first it was just laziness, but I've taken to pulling it out every year or so and having another go, just to see how long it'll last.

OK, that and we have, like, two dozen games for it that I don't want to throw away, because they're a part of me, man!
