The quests in wow are either Killing, Collecting, Delivery or Escort witch after about level 30 got extremely boring for me.

Maybe I didn't play WoW enough, but I never had any "escort witch" quests. It sounds like a lot of fun. I'd start playing WoW again if I could be the Gigolo of Jintha'Alor.

1) Please replace "witch" with "which"

2) I used to play Runescape, but stopped because I got sick of farming (which entirely consists of clicking an object multiple times for several hours, except for fishing , in which case you click once and leave your computer). Never played WoW, but the expanded weapon set, larger list of class skills, and better graphics appeal to me more than Runescape's free-to-play does.

Nice well thought out opinion but I disagree with it, I found the over complicated runescape quests more difficult then the warcraft ones...to the point were I used the step by step guide through the imposibly hard quests and the worst thing was losing your gear if you died and the choking amount of grind and repitition to get your level up

WoW is not a hardcore game.

I have no idea how anyone got that impression. Runescape is not more casual.
You are wrong. WoW can be both casual and hardcore, depending on the guild you are in and what its goals are. With the latest content patch and raid instance, Blizzard completely refined and fleshed out the concept of multiple difficulty levels on the same bosses. There is a normal mode of every boss, which is quite easy, and then most bosses also have hard modes, which are INSANELY HARD. If your guild's goal is to clear those (for extra loot, bragging rights or access to a new, locked ultra hard boss), then you are guaranteed to find all the challenge you ever wished for, and then some. I am in a guild that used to be on the world's top 5 in TBC (now we have gone a bit south), and I can tell you, I have never wiped so much in my life as I did in Ulduar.

PS. People are seriously comparing Runescape's graphics with WoW in this thread? Even going there tells me that you have actually never booted WoW's last expansion, if the game at all. Blizzard have added TONS of eyecandy in it and the later patches. Of course it becomes a slide show with maxed details during raiding on every computer in the world, but still.
No, I'm not wrong.
People can play World of Warcraft as a hardcore game, the same as people can play runescape as a hardcore game. But the game itself can be played very casually in both cases.
My point is that runescape has the same elements of casual play as World of Warcraft, in both games the hardcore players are the most powerful, but you can get strong simply through being a good casual player too.

That was my point. The game itself is not necessarily "hardcore", many people simply decide to play it as if it was. The exact same as runescape.

And anyone who compares WoW graphics to runescape, is indeed, deluded.

runescape was fun before they destroyed it. used to be addicted myself when I was like 16. had way more fun than I ever did with wow even though wow is so much better quality, its just dull. runescape is (or was) at least a sandbox mmo and while alot of potential grind it wasn't as repetitive, there was alot more to do than just level up (ala wow). and it used to have full loot pvp which was intense, wow pvp is lame. wow is a great game in terms of quality but zero fun imo.

To be honest regardless if its in 3D or not, WoW graphics are still pretty shitey. But I do realise this is for the reason of widespread play. Not everybody has a decent pc to play on, and Blizzard knows this.

The graphics are still as crap to me as they were when I played it 4 years ago >.<

How could you say it takes more time than WoW? WoW is such a big world, with so much to do. Have you not heard of WoW addiction?
exactly. except that if ur not retarted, u can resist the addiction (like me, i have 6 lvl 80´s and havent played for 5 weeks now).
I can quit when ever I want to!

Resisting WoW addiction is really freaking easy.

my runescape vs wow rant

I decided to do this because i noticed there are a lot of Escapists that hate Runescape.
before you wow fans start flaming I'm not saying that wow is a bad Game cause that would be
a lie it is a good Game i admit that.

1: The first reason i like Runescape is because of the quests. in Runescape each quest has its own little story line witch makes them a whole lot more enjoyable to do. In wow the quests are just the same thing over and over again just with different people, areas and monsters. The quests in wow are either Killing, Collecting, Delivery or Escort witch after about level 30 got extremely boring for me.
The story in WoW is told exclusively through the questlines, and can get rather robust at times. For example, the rivalry between Hellscream and High Lord Saurfang in Warsong Hold.

And in Runescape... you're still doing the exact same thing.
2: The second reason is graphics over the last few years Jagex has been doing things to improve Runescapes Graphics. with the release of Runescape HD the Graphics are now about three times better Graphics than what most runescape ranters think.I will post a link to HD version at bottom of the post.
Anybody who calls a game bad because of graphics instantly has his opinion invalidated.
3: my final reason for liking Runescape more than wow is that it is more designed for people who do not have a whole lot of time for Gaming.its simple and easy and takes no skill to play witch is helpful if you don't have the time to gain skill. In wow you have to be somewhat fast to be able to beat some monsters and player in battle most casual gamers are not this fast and wouldn't have the time to get into wow like a lot of kids do.
WoW doesn't require "a whole of time for gaming." You'll get to 80 faster than you'll get to whatever the level cap is in Runescape, regardless of how often you play. In fact, in WoW, you level FASTER if you take breaks due to Rest XP (which grants you 2x experience from monsters). Do you maybe mean raids and such?

If so, most raids can be done in an hour to an hour and a half with a decent group. And if you think an hour and a half is a long time, you need to calm down, slow down, and smell the flowers.

It's fine that you like Runescape more, it has its merits. But honestly, making a thread about your opinion is kind of a waste of time, because you won't change it, you either wanted to A) Start a flame war or B) pretend that someone cares.

I havnt played Runescape in 2 years...boy, the graphics have changed a lot!

I played the shit out of Runescape (about 3 hrs a day for 2 years). The only thing that stopped me from playing it any more was because my account kept getting scammed/hacked. Whether it would be some new scam (I was always one of the 1st victims lol) or some guy would hack my password through keylogging and other methods (pc was so shit back then and virus protection sucked) and I would lose about 10M worth of stuff each time.

I got so sick of losing my dragon armour (minus the chainmail cos that cost like 25M back then) that i just decided to go 'fuck it im quitting'. My account is still there although some guy hacked it and i think he checks it once a month 2 see if theres anything new in the account.

Last time i checked was about 8 months ago and i had full rune, 100k and a LOT of members items. I was a compulsive quest do-er lol...hated grinding but I did it just to meet the minimum requirements for a quest.

Ah, at least i learnt about hacking and scamming when I was 14 yrs old and on a game. If I didn't then id be falling for a whole bunch o' shit in real life...now i know if it sounds too good to be true...it is!

Personally i prefer dungeons and dragons online because its free its got great graphics its no longer turn based all the classes are evenly balanced and its fun. There are quest you can do but if you don't like that you can go into a free roam environment. Its got pvp and all the other aspects that a bought rpg has.

I used to play Runescape. Eventually several graphics issues and the stupidity of grinding got to me and I stopped.

One of the things I find about RuneScpae is that while they insist on having the >13 age barrier, it is increasingly aimed towards young children. What's the point? There's no way of checking if these players are >13, so if you market towards children, you get children. It's destroying the community of the game and where you used to get good advice you just get loads of "oh lolz I dont' no".

Case in point: I gave up RuneScape before I was old enough to play it.

Thanks, Hellenion.

Ok, unlike a lot of people. I can see your point, but Runescape is aimed at a much younger crowd (or so it seems), the community is awful... There are about 30 quests in the free game, but after that there's not really anything to do, and the quests are really short.
It doesn't take skill, which as a non-hardcore MMO player, I actually liked a bit... To each their own, though.

I'll have to disagree on the graphics, if that's as good as it gets in HD, then WoW is still better.
I think both of the games are OK, but not worth paying monthly for. So in that case Runescape wins because you don't HAVE to pay for it to play, it just sucks a big willy if you don't.

I play Guild Wars anyway, so I'll stick to my nice graphics and decent quests. =)
