The Red Rings 'O Death: PLEASE HELP!

Ahh nooo I just got the infamous red rings of death on my 360. Normally this wouldn't bother me so much, because I'm not a massive gamer, but Xmas is right around the corner =(
I've heard that it can take 3-4 weeks to get your xbox back, and I'm getting a new hauppage hd pvr and L4D2 for my xbox on Christmas. Does anyone know any fixes for the red rings? Or am I going to have to stare at my presents for 2 weeks...

Send it off, no point doing anything else with it.

Just send it back.
I wrapped mine in a towel for fifteen minutes, but that's a temporary fix(30 minutes of playtime), and I do NOT recommend it. Seriously. Not worth the effort or risk.
It's better to wait a bit and get a fixed one than it is to risk burning your damn house down.

Nah it's best that you send it off, you can get lucky and get it back real quickly. There is still 2 weeks left before Christmas.

Send it off now, mention it being Christmas and you might get some sympathy. When my PS2 died 2 weeks before i sent it off and they said they'd have it back in time for Xmas, they didn't and i ended up getting a free game out of it for my trouble.

Send it back to Microsoft. When my 360 died on me I reported it and it only took ten to twelve days from the day I reported it to the day I got my fixed unit back.
