
The Republic: A Player Driven RP
Yes, that's right, another one! What can I say, I'm just in a giving mood. This RP is a little experimental though, so make sure you're here for the entire thing. Once more, that bloke SamuelT is my Co-GM. What a spiffing fellow. Hugs all round, especially for me. I do love my hugs.
Opening Plot:
Following the America world war in the early 21st century, the entire world was left crippled. Although the mixture of Allied and European forces had managed to prevail, England, Germany, Spain and Australia were left crippled and devistated.
However, Australia was not directly attacked by the bulk of American forces. Instead their economy was all but destoryed, leading all Australian based businesses to shut down. Now, 50 years on, what was left of the once proud country now only consists of criminals and civilians left without any homes.
Yet word travels across the country of a safe haven, directly in the middle of the barren country. And if you were to find this safe haven, and be accepted into their community, you would be given a roof over your head and secruity from the murderers and scum outside the city walls. Many try to find this sacred place, either to gain protection from the wastes or to steal from the fabled community, and reap their benefits.
But nobody has even left the community, for whatever reason the secret communuity hides. All that's known of the this hidden paradise, the only one confirmed detail, is it's name: The Republic.
Notes:
It's Australia, but you can still be what ever nationality you want. For instance, your French family could have stayed in Australia. You could then have been born whilst the country was exiting the war, sticking with your French parents until their deaths.
The RP is indeed, slightly futuristic. Although Australia was left without a decent economy, the rest of the world slowly became more reliant on technology to fix their problems. This technology has manged to find it's way into Australia, and even the Republic. We're not speaking crazy tech here, like lightsabers and robots with AI. It's more along the lines of sophisticated weaponry, opposed to holograms and floating stairways.
Each chapter will revolve around one of the player characters, except the first and the last chapters. Myself, and Samuel T, will also have chapters about our own characters. The first and last chapters will be about every one of the characters. The first will allow us to introduce every character to the story, and the last will allow us to bring it to a close.
Rules:
When it is your character's chapter, the entire storyline will revolve around them. However, regardless this, at no point is another player allowed to control someone else's character. Also, other characters have complete free will to do as they please in someone else's storyline. Within reason, of course.
Do not go crazy with your futuristic technology. Myself and my co-GM will establish some technology from the start. From their, you can use the level of tech to establish your own. However, you have complete freedom to decide what you want to use. But, again, don't go crazy.
Respect other people's storylines. However much I want to stress that you have complete free will within the RP, unless it is your own chapter, don't mess with with someone else's story. Also, if you're feeling all nice-like, try to help the other player's storyline along.

There is only one Adept. He is the leader of the Republic, the voice of the people. Everyone looks toward him for guideance, and he gives it to them without any kind of personal gain. The Adept is the glue that keeps Republic together, and the mouth through which the entirety of it's people speak.
Your position within the Republic is vague. All that's definate about your character is that they're not in the Republic legally. You could be a mercenary, a crimial or even a lost person just trying to find a roof over their head. For whatever reason, you shouldn't be in the Republic.
The right hand of the Adept, legionaires are tasked with jobs that would be suited to an army. You do as the Adept instructs, either through choice or personal gain. A outsider who did not gain a permit to enter the Republic as a civlian must be chosen by the Adept himself to serve in the legion, under the agreement that if he or she serves for three years with honour and loyalty, they will be given a free permit to stay in the Republic.
Civlians within the Republic serve the most vital roles of all. If an outsider shows certain skill in one area, they will be offered a permit to stay in Republic if they will serve the community as a whole. Many skills are need to keep the Republic afloat, ranging from carpentry to a firm grasp of a foreign language. All they have to do is serve as the community deems fit, and their position in the Republic is certain. They also each have a voice on the council, the collective effort that decides all of the changes within the Republic.

Appearance: The Adept has a slim, yet sturdy posture. His hair is always kept short, but not to the point of being bald. His eyes are gray and are capable of silencing a man with a single look. They are hidden behind glasses. His outfit is functional, with a plain shirt and pair of trousers. Sometimes he's seen outside, where he wears a sturdy overcoat with a kevlar vest under it, even within the Republic.
Reasons for being in the Republic: Adept was one of the lonely wanderers within Australia. On one night, he searched for a proper shelter, and restored power for an entire building. People were attracted to the light within the almost perpetual darkness, and Adept let them stay. They did, for a long time. Eventually, they started expanding to neighbouring buildings, and a small community grew.
Adept acted as the protector of 'his' people in that time. The people drawn to his 'utopia' were the malnourished, the weak, the cowardly. But Adept shielded them all from the outside world. They grew stronger, and eventually became one of the largest influences within the region. Adept formed some kind of military within his community, and leaded them into a short but brutal 'war' in which the people who would do them harm were driven away from the small urban center. Within months, a self-proclaimed Republic was formed, who would protect the needy and slay the unjust. Or so it was whispered. Until this day, Adept rules over the republic, but only acting on the people's wishes.

Appearance: Natasha is Eurasian, with brown hair that reaches just past her shoulders, and green eyes. She wears a mix of jeans or long skirts, and long-sleeved shirts.
Reason for being in the Republic: After a month-long journey through the Australian deserts alone, Natasha reached the Republic near-dead from starvation and thirst. She was granted entry because she can speak many languages, including Chinese, Russian, French and Spanish, and is a skilled actress.

He wears a brown coat with a black undershirt and worn jeans. Under the shirt is a general purpose "DragonSkin" protective vest, which makes his physique look bulkier than it already is.
Reasons for being in the Republic: Jacob, who moved to Australia from New Zealand, entered because he needed refuge from the outside world, who viewed him as a criminal. One day when Sally turned thirteen there small camp was attacked by a small group of bandits, her father tried to fight back but the bandits were to many and they killed her parents. As the bandits where preparing to take her, a scout group of Republic Legionnaires arrived and killed the bandits. Their commanding officer, a woman named Lin, approached her and offered her a home. Sally accepted and since she became of age had been with the Legionnaires.

Has dark-brown hair, blue eyes, and always like to wear a pair of black tinted goggles which he keeps away from everyone, saying that 'it's special'. Usually wears fitting clothes, not baggy ones. Has a burning scar running from his left cheek to his neck.
Reason for being in the Republic: Born into a world of corruption and riots, Sander was not taken care of by his parents. Left behind to the ruined remains of Adelaide, he was found during the exploration of the city by a group of bandits. Being a group of bandits, they were reluctant at first to take him, but finally settled on taking him with them. The young man grew up fast, learning to walk and talk extremely early on as they were skills he needed. Is unstable, though very rarely, due to the years of travels he was with the bandits, which saw its fair share of cannibalism and brutality against animals, raiding of shops and similar criminal behaviours to get food for themselves that traumatized him. Is optimistic by nature, but now more cynical due to the things that have happened.
Found the Republic completely by accident, as he had never heard of it. His companions all having died, many of them of natural causes and starvation and thirst, Sander was the last one left, reaching the haven at the last moment before he would've shared their fate.
Upon enquiry of any special skills, listed (literary) creativity, as creating exciting worlds in his mind and putting it to paper was one of his only pastime activities during his time wandering around the continent. Also has amazing drawing skills, high strength for his age, and some limited technical know-how, having been the only one knowledgeable enough to fix machines the bandit group could find.

When out of it, though, Alex is of average height but very muscular, and has brown crew-cut hair and green eyes. Slung across his back is an AA-12 automatic shotgun, along with several tear gas grenades along his belt and a riot shield on his left arm. These heavy arnaments slow him down, however.
Reason for joining The Republic: Alex was serving with the SWAT teams in Boston when he decided to take a vacation to Australia. When the war broke out, he decided to stay there, and joined Australia's SWAT instead. He eventually attracted the attention of The Republic and was offered to join it. This was because of his skills at handling conflicts, specifically riots or other large-scale things. He also can carry an excellent debate, which was a plus when debating in council. He accepted, and is now a proud riot-respone member of The Republic.
