I do not. How ever I do think that this incident happen'd. The reason it was so blown out of proportion is because it was the closest encounter we had with aliens so far.
I don't claim to know whether or not we've ever been visited by extraterrestrials, but if I could point you to the post I made (that's right below yours, I was making it while yours got posted) the Roswell incident is widely believed to be a hoax even by most of the people who research UFO phenomena for a living. The only way you could make the claim that the Roswell incident was a genuine encounter with life from another planet is if you'd never done any research on the issue at all. If you wanted to make the case that we'd been visited by extraterrestrials, there are much better case studies you could point to than Roswell.
Yeah, I see that, Like the video of the UFO over China airport. O well as I see it thats just fucking awesome.

I would love it to be genuine so much, but frankly, it's very, very unlikely.

As people have said, 5 lbs sounds about the right sort of weight for a weather balloon, and even extremely advanced technology is unlikely to weigh that little. For another very strong point against the theory, go and watch the footage of the "alien autopsy". The guy doing the autopsy looks like an amateur who doesn't know what he's doing; if it actually had been an alien, they would have brought in the best coroner they could find to examine the body.

As I said, I wish it were true, but it almost certainly isn't.

Whenever talking about aliens visiting this planet you need to think of why and how.

Why would any intelligent and technologically advanced race want to expend vast resources to do some low altitute hovering and abduct some mindless hicks / create cropcircles. As Stephen Hawking has said previously, if they did come all this way then it'd be most likely in order to harvest our resources.

How would they get here in the first place, let's presume that it's not physically possible to travel faster then the speed of light (if Einstein is anything to go by, it's really not) then it would take a species from the nearest hospitable planets a really bloody long time to get here. That's going to either require a vast lifespan, a ship large enough to accomodate many thousands of beings in order to maintain a viable gene pool (which would be pretty easy to spot) or some form of cryogenic freezing process. Even then the timescale involved would make the trip rather pointless, at least from our point of view.

Overall it just makes no sense for them to be here.

You want creepy stories relating to "alleged alien encounters"?

Wiki the Maury Island Incident and the Dyatlov Pass Incident.

Who needs sleep, anyway, eh?

That would be the Dyatlov Pass incident that has a perfectly logical explanation.See the first entry in this article

If we are going to be whipping out the cracked articles, this is a pretty good one:

http://www.cracked.com/article_18690_5-ufo-sightings-that-even-non-crazy-people-find-creepy.html

I trust Cracked because they strike me as pretty sceptical guys, considering that they spend a lot of their time debunking common misconceptions.

I don't buy into any conspiracies.* Every one that I have seen greatly underestimates the coverup operation that would be needed. Take the 9/11 truthers, who, considering the size of the required operation, must believe that hundreds, if not thousands of people were in on it, and not a single one spoke up.

*this isn't entirely accurate, I'm a wereconspiracy-theorist; sometimes when it hits about 2 am, and I've been on YouTube for a bit too long and I start clicking on things saying "The End is Nigh!", give me half an hour and I'll be convinced my own parents are shape shifting aliens

Why do humans fly to Afica to go on safari, spending days watching elephants, lions and meerkats? Who's to say that these extra-terrestrials are actually expending vast resources to get here?

I'm of the opinion that anyone who thinks we're all alone is more than a little silly. Our own galaxy contains 200,000,000,000 stars, and estimates range from 80,000,000,000 to 200,000,000,000 galaxies exisiting in the universe. That means that we're getting into such a huge number of stars (and therefore, possible planetary systems) that the human mind will have immanse trouble even comprehending the numbers!

An online scientific calculator gave me the result 4e+22.......I don't even know what the hell that means!!

There has to be intelligent life out there.

So if we presume that they can do it using relatively little resources, the time it would take to travel these distances is still immense, just to check out the wildlife so they can show off their holiday snaps/holograms?

Webcomic creator David Morgan-Mar theorized that the U.S. Government covered it up, deciding not to reveal it until Aliens were such a huge part of Pop Culture that people would believe them and not freak out.
