i fucking GOTTA have one of those! where can i get it?!
puzl.co.uk sell it, it is £69.99 though.
that's a great gift for my dad (sort of guy who catalogizes and optimizes even the rate at which we buy bread for breakfast -.- ) so i'm going to get one^^ thank you very much.
Can you me one aswell? I really want one but theres no way I am dropping £70 on it haha. I will get it's little brother

Theres also a rather scary
but I have no idea were to get one of those.
i think i saw one of them smaller 12-sided ones in the same shop you told me to look for that huge ************ for. it's significantly cheaper with around 12 punds, but if i'm getting something, i go for all-out insanity^^

Its a fairly simple puzzle; one just needs to devote adequate time to it.

Personally, I have better things to do

I can solve one, but it takes me around three minutes to fully complete it from scratch.

One of the few productive things I learnt over my summer holidays... =D

Yeah, thats the one I am getting. I am too poor to drop £70 on a puzzle and the £12 one has almost the same solution as the normal cube, which makes me happy.

I went on rubik craze a couple of years ago, and can still do one - just about. I think my method was F2L; cross on final side; place final corners; rotate final corners; place final edges.
My best ever time was 42 seconds, a number that I'm very satisfied to settle on! :D

Next up is solving a 4x4x4 or 5x5x5 cube...
Be prepared for the mind numbing horror that is parity

Yeah I can solve a normal 3x3x3 in bout 1:15 (average ish) using that beginner method and I can't be arsed to learn anything more complex.

And I can solve the 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 and 2x2x2 (no accomplishment there).
Ah yes, I've been warned that the rules change a little when the cube gets bigger. That you can get the edges and faces together and pretend it's a 3x3x3 cube, but will be surprised by some special cases. That your fingers will twitch whenever you think. That your mind will trickle out of your ears. But I digress.

The real question is, "I've heard that the largest ever made was 7x7x7, where can I get my hands on that?"
Also, on a 4x4x4, is there any difference between the centre squares of the same colour? For example, does the same red centre panel always have to be close to the same corner when solved? I'm guessing not, since the rotation of the centre tiles doesn't matter on a 3x3x3.
What about the single-colour-but-not-centre tiles on a 5x5x5?

Never completed a cube myself, I got way to short attention span for that.

When in doubt Ebay.

It doesn't matter where you put each individual center piece for the 4x4x4 but you have be absoluetly certain you get the proper faces opposite each other (the method I use it hold it so Red is F, Blue is L and Yellow is U. As long as each of those have their proper opposite colors you did it right)

Think of the center 9 squares of a side on a 5x5x5 kind of like a 3x3x3 corner bits will always be in a corner and sides will always be on a side but now they aren't restricted to a specific place since they aren't attached to a second color.

The only case of parity I have ever encountered on a 5x5x5 is the same as the one in the picture I posted and is fixed with the same exact algorithm or a longer but more intuitive flipping some edges around.

I'm proud to say I have the second fastest time mentioned so far at 39 seconds.

I start with a cross on the top, then the corners, then the 4 sides in the second layer. The last layer I do corners first then the cross.

The Rubik's cube is one of the first things I remember doing, so I've been able to do it almost as long as I can remember.

I can also solve a 4x4x4 and 5x5x5x. Also, once I reach a certain point (on the 3x3x3) I can finish it behind my back.

Nobody ever realizes it until they can do one, but solving a Rubik's Cube can actually be an effective way of picking up chicks.

EDIT: Also, just double checked, I have five 3x3x3's, one 4x4x4, and one 5x5x5. My friend once said that I'm "the only person he knows that has to buy new Rubik's Cubes because I wear them out so quickly"

On a flight back from Sydney I once spent quite some frustrating time trying to solve a sudokube

Solved it later though

^I've got one of those, haven't spent much time trying to solve it though. I just go back to the regular ones.

I don't remember the exact times - somewhere around the 2 minute mark, I think - but a friend timed me once, and it turns out I can solve a Rubik's cube roughly 30 seconds quicker when I'm drunk than I can when I'm sober :)

Also, that sudokube looks evil - I might have to get one
