Well see here fella, you just damned near ninja'd everyone that'd come by here!

I'd put something up, but I can't post the entirety of the Grave of the Fireflies.

These always get me going...

Ah hell, the whole of The Land Before Time is a one continuous sad scene.

Anything that involves an animal dying...

The Horse in 'Never Ending story'.

Will Smith, the Dog, in 'I am Legend'.

The Dogs in '8 Below'.

'Marley and Me'.

Honorable mentions to those who have to kill someone they love...

Tom Hanks in 'Road to Perdition'.

And there are a few short animations that have stuck with me...

'Kiwi'.

Others who names escape me.

I'm so depressed I can't even link them.

Gah people....use Spoilers in your answers. For those of us with a bit slower internet we don't need all these Youtube videos on the page.

I'll go with television, since I keep bringing up the end of Dragonheart in these threads. The saddest episode of Star Trek.

Well if you steal all the good ones....!

I'd go with one from Armageddon

But then, who doesn't cry whenever Bruce Willis is on screen? (in a good way)

Yeah--Grave of the Fireflies was/is *epic* in it's sadness...have you seen the live action version?
It's a surprisingly different take on the story, told more from the viewpoint of the relative that
the children stayed with.

Aaaannd...I dread bringing this up, but have you seen Who's Left Behind? We watched that at an anime
club I went to, every one in the room had seen Grave of the Fireflies, and we all agreed.
If Grave of the Fireflies was like getting a kick in the shin, Who's Left Behind was like having a
broken bottle shoved into your face and twisted repeatedly. Yeah. Do *not*. I repeat *DO NOT* watch
it alone. Or with any sharp instruments in the room. Or with any *blunt* instruments in the room.
Seriously.

Bicycle Thieves. It makes the other movies seem like screwball comedy by comparison. Those who have seen it know what I'm talking about.

Goodbyes are what make me the saddest, when a character must leave a place or another character in which/with whom they've shared the whole movie(or sometimes more than one movie). The three best examples of this that I can come up with immediately are(spoilers):

Spirited Away: The sight of Chihiro staring longingly back into the tunnel before getting into the car with her parents, coupled with the quiet, confident "I think I can handle it" gets me every time.

Where the Wild Things Are: Carol arriving on the beach just in time to see Max leaving on the boat, then leading the Wild Things in a chorus of grief-wracked howling broke my heart beyond repair.

Toy Story 3: So long, pardner.

Nice one. More "ugh" than "boo hoo" but it was definitely a downer. The whole damn movie was a downer.
