Beginning of Bioshock, Metro 2033, Amnesia, and Demons Souls are games I've found pretty damn scary. As well as the first level in Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill

when I was about 12, I watched my friend playing Resident Evil 1. I've always had a fear of snakes, but seeing Yawn really made me shit myself >.<

I was playing HL2 EP...2 I think? I was playing all night and by 2 am I was in the bug cave. I had no lights on and a huntsman spider ran up my leg. I threw my controller, jumped up and ran into my door.

To make things worse my brother was watching me play.

Amnesia is scaring the crap out of me. I'd played the demo before, but I still had to wait a few days to do the water level, and then there was a 2nd part... :'( You kind of have to be in the right mindset to play it at it's best. if you go in saying "the game will warn me when there is a baddie about, so if I don't dawdle I wont run out of light" it wont be scary. As soon as I thought of the 2nd water part as a problem, it wasn't scary anymore. But strangely it was even worse when a monster caught me in a closet and I just decided to see what would happen. They are FREAKY up close :'(

Imagine this, you are playing Resident Evil 2 in the Nineties, you didn't knew of sites like gamefaqs, the lights are dark, you are wandering though a corridor and the music is silent until...

DOGS JUMP OUT AT YOU FROM OUT OF NOWHERE, the shock and speed of the dogs scared the pants off of you, you're scrambling the hell out of there or shoot the dogs orelse you'll die

If you die though, the deaths are a bit narmy because the blood splatters reminds me of the Disney channel logo.

I have fond scary memories in two games in particular.

<spoiler=Resident Evil 2>Playing Resident Evil 2 in the dark as a teenager definitely had its memorably scary moments, especially anything having to do with Tyrant. There you are running around innocently when *BAM* he breaks through a wall. You put him down, loot his body, and run out of the room, thinking you got away. *BAM* through the wall again, to chase you down anew.

Then just when you forget about him, you turn on a monitor and are forced to watch in horror as he slowly approaches your position and destroys the camera that's right behind you. I just about pissed myself at that part, until I remembered I was carrying the biggest, loudest shotgun ever wielded by a human being. There were plenty of other scary moments in RE2, but Tyrant's were usually the worst.

<spoiler=Dead Space>Like others I have to give a shout out to Dead Space as well, twice in particular. For some reason I was NOT expecting to be grabbed in those long sticky hallways, so the first time a tentacle came out of nowhere and pulled me down, I jumped.

The other time was just an average confrontation with a slasher I had put down. I stomped on his head and killed him, and then for some reason I remember reading somewhere that "they usually appear in pairs." Upon realizing that I had only killed one, I audibly muttered "Oh shit!" and spun the camera around - just in time to have my insides torn out by the second swinging splicer behind me. Scared the ever-living crap out of me. I don't think it would have startled me as much, were it not for the authentic dread that hit me when I let my guard down and the frantic spin that I did just before my death.

I still haven't gotten around to playing the original Condemned (got it in a bargain bin), think it's worth my time?

I encoutered a dog in Penumbra Overture. That's about it. I haven't found any monsters in Amnesia yet, but I'm too much of a wuss to play that game, so it just kinda sits there on my hard drive...

The first Condemned, the second one is great and all, but the last hour is not scary, while the first is scary the whole time.

The first time i was petrified by a game... i was 9, the game was resident evil. The first time you see a zombie. When he takes a quick breather from chomping on a slice of intestine, to turn and look right at you. Game was paused, mum was called for, what a woose!

The V-rex level from King Kong.

One minute and everything's fine and dandy, the next, there's a giant dinosaur reigning down on you that can't be killed, can kill you with one blow and can catch up to you very easily and you have to attract its attention in an exposed area while you run for your life.
It is always the most anxious moment I've ever had in a video game.

Evidently the person in this video is a lot more gutsy then I was.

Chapter 2 of Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth. Being chased by the fishmen out of the hotel. I think there are few game experiences as harrowing as that 5 minute section.
This; Being chased, unarmed, from the hotel in Innsmouth by what seemed to have been the entire township. Scary as hell if you didn't know which doors to lock behind you or, which windows to jump from.
